I spoke yesterday to Amy just prior to her leaving to go visit Scuffy in the south bay from her place in Berkeley. She set me straight about my post on the second page of this thread, which I deleted later on.
The explanation is that I posted a nice picture of her and Richard, not Scuffy, but I've only met Richard one time (a very cool guy with a very similar look) and mistook him for Scuffy. She told me the situation with roommates, etc., which became clear to me, eventually. I can be a bit dense sometimes, as can we all.
So, not having met Scuffy, and seeing only the one big pic by Mike Bolte (hi Mike, we met at the Bridge in 2014), I posted based on what I thought I knew. This is posted to clear the air for those who may have noticed the deletion.
I will say, then, to Scuffy, keep making noise, take it one day at a time but keep looking forward to tomorrow. As with so many vigorous olfarts hereabouts, we never know when we will be in a similar situation.
Isn't that right, HIGH TRAVERSE?
Best of luck in finding a place, Scuffy, and stay out of wrecking yards!
Cheers, and a WIDE smile.

Scuffy I'm so sorry to hear about this. Sometimes it seems that life is all about getting up one more time than you get knocked down. With nearly 100 posts you can see that the whole tribe is behind you. Heal up, take care of yourself. We'll all meet in Joshua Tree again one of these Thanksgivings.

Hey Scuffy,
don't think we've ever met, but sure it'd be fun if it happens sometime in the future. Hope you're out climbing again real soon. Do you remember your birds? Here's one that should be easy, it starts with your two most favorite letters, OW_?

The path ahead may be arduous and include a lot of bushwacking through unfamiliar terrain, but the view makes it all worthwhile. May your life be filled with many exceptional sights, sounds and experiences as you make your way forward.

I had a short of a visit with Steve this morning, between dropping off kids at school and getting to the airport. His mind is lucid, familiar gleam in his eye :) Speech is partial, will probably take time and work to get it back. He seems to be handling the speech challenges with a zen-like patience; I suppose accepting reality works a lot better than getting all worked up about it.
Steve, I hope you realize how many people care for you! Maybe that will be a silver lining of all this.

Hey as long as you need to relearn to speak anyhow, maybe it would be fun to try to sound like Cary Grant -- or maybe Tony Curtis doing Cary Grant. Get well quickly Scuffy!

Hey Steve, Alan Bartlett here. I don't post much, but I lurk sometimes. I never knew who Scuffy B was, so I never paid any attention to that name. If I'd known, I would've looked more. Sorry to hear about your situation, but at least the pictures make it look like you're recovering. Glad to hear that you've continued to crank after all these years. I'll pass the info on to Dave Black. He never posts, but maybe he will. Get well, bro, I need someone who can still lead offwidths. I haven't been able to do it for years.
