Gloom and doom from the right, it is all they have left.

Science and history says they are wrong and they are.

The problem is what really is doing us in is the science deniers on the climate change.

If it wasn't for those pesky deniers, global warming would've been fixed by now.

Trump is a nut, Clinton is a crook, and the media is craven...pass the popcorn.

Edit: After posting on a politard thread, I now have to repent and bump a climbing thread to the top ;-)

Great posts Radical!

I understand why you don't know what to think or know what to do anymore. You make that point so well and I see why you have a fan club going here. A great approach to dealing with the closed minded people is constant serial posting on these sites. Please keep them coming I read every word!

Riley's last few posts are the most cogent thing I've ever seen on this subject... Isn't it amazing when someone living in the REAL world speaks the truth.... Good on ya, Riley....you get it.

I see a lot of fair description of the problems that ail us, that ail America and the world, in Radical's posts but not much in the way of prescription. How come? Isn't that where the action is?

I don't think there's anyone here who doesn't get it - that it's a lot easier to complain than to come up with solutions that work that satisfy everybody.

Wasn't the advice to 'educate yourselves' given somewhere? Yes, education is a prescription, it is a solution. But you've heard it before: It's only good advice if you take it. So look at the number of R posters here who do not even accept bio evolution as a fact (let alone climate change) even though it's now the 21st century.

At least we know something of ekat's politics now. lol

The many strongly held but disparate perceptions and opinions here proves something. They prove we finally realize this decision is important. There will be consequences. Consequences we won't be able to wave away.

That's a start.

Jody, given your history of science denial, and belief in your imaginary friend and creationism, there's no chance of convincing you of anything related to evolution and climate change.

overwatch, just curious, do you know the difference between the words "description" and "prescription"?

I bet Riley, aka Radical, does. lol

All you folks fluffing this guy's Riley's nutz?

This is all you need to know about this towering intellect:
I don't know who to vote for

followed by a bunch of "I'm a special snowflake, the parties left me, you're all stooped American puppets controlled by the media" type invective.

By this point, if you truly "don't know who to vote for", you are mentally deficient.

I don't like Clinton as a personality. Would not want top spend time with her. But, she is a policy wonk and knows how to actually accomplish things within our political system. I will vote for her, for Supreme Court appointments, and for having a sane, detailed oriented, wonky leader.

TheRump lies, continually; has no knowledge of geopolitics (or anything else it seems), is clearly so thin skinned he has no place in a power structure armed with nuclear warheads, and makes grand claim after grand claim with exactly ZERO details of how he intends to accomplish these things. All bluster, no substance.

I don't have to live with Hillary, or engage her personally, I will likely turn off her speeches and avoid her media appearances, because her voice grates on my nerves. But I'll be voting for her. Supreme court and a fragile economy are too important to gamble with a mentally unstable, belligerent, failure of a "businessman".

I just haven't seen any evidence that humans are causing the climate to change
. Maybe park your motorcycle in the living room, close the windows and doors, start that baby up and see how it works out for you. A BBQ grill would also work as a sub for the motorcycled. Let us know how it goes.

Maybe this is because you do not defer to the experts on the subject matter. Duh.

But Obama's policies have been far,far worse in my opinion.
We now have a huge anti-civilization, mysticism believing, violent, raping, murdering caliphate that spreads from half of Iraq to Libia and terrorist attacks some where in the world every single day.
This is a serious problem that the dream world people won't even talk about.

This rests at the feet of Clinton and Obama.

I'm sorry Riley, but it doesn't just rest at the feet of Clinton and Obama. These problems started many many years before. Dingus is right, you have a tendency to go whole hog on your blame from one administration to the next. You need to back off a bit and recognize its not liberals or democrats.. its the power elite. There isn't really a "side". They just use issues to gain power for themselves, which is why they shift back and forth as one issue becomes more important to the people then the last one. Whichever issues they can get behind, they use to gain power. And a lot of times the people they put in front are just puppets. Like George Bush junior. When you understand egos and power hunger are the main driving forces, then you can see why few of them really have any idea what to do. And the decent people often don't come into power because we don't support decency. We support winning and we don't really care how it happens. So we get what we deserve. We get people who have no real moral center.

Riley's comments are opinions, and not necessarily based on facts. Furthermore, as someone with multiple college degrees, I am not impressed with someone who has multiple college degrees.
All that says is we were good at book learnin'.

Robert Reich:

New York Giants Owner Jonathan Tisch will host a Clinton fundraiser at his Hampton's home later this month. Tickets for the event cost $33,000. Apple CEO Tim Cook will also host a Clinton fundraiser; the invitation for that fundraiser lists three different contribution levels: $50,000, $10,000, and $2,700. (In June, Cook hosted a fundraiser for Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.) Tim Kaine is also hitting the fundraising circuit, headlining his first campaign fundraiser in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. That event will come on the heels of President Obama's fundraiser, in Atlanta, for Clinton's joint fundraising committee with the Democratic National Committee and state parties. That event costs $5,000 to attend and $25,000 to host.

At the end of the day, I believe that our country is strong enough to survive either of these Presidential candidates. Anyone else note that the current guy in charge has insisted that Guantanamo Bay should be closed for the last 7 years? It's not like he's forgotten or changed his mind on that issue. Should have been an easy thing to rectify for the head man in charge, no? Ask yourself why it isn't. Outside of that as an issue is the point for the next election looking forward.

Great post Radical, quote:
"John, I like that guy a lot. He's a smart guy.
I actually love Appalacia - when I was burning out a few months ago I imagined riding my bike over there and living in the mountains and drinking moonshine. Lol
.
But I've been an ER nurse for twenty five years.
Poor is nothing like it used to be. I've seen a lot, everyday for most of my adult life.
Do you know if unscrupulous parents can get their kids in ADHD meds they get paid 600 bucks from the government per kid. 5 kids - 3000 a month. How's that for Craig Frys' republican world? Where you think that ends up in three or four generations?

I'm spent my life helping people. And I'm a moderate and believe in a reasonable social net.
But the upside down Maxist view of the world that takes the responsibility for your life out of your hands and blames someone more successful and puts the responsibility on a government is both a crime against human nature and a crime against nature.

In grad school I basically use American inner cities as proxies for the study of third world health care interventions and prevention. Our inner cities are gone. The police are pulling back because they can't do anything anymore. Some thug tries to kill a cop and the cop gets blamed.
Lawless areas in cities supported by 50 years of welfare , excuses and attempted government interventions and good intentions.
And not a Craig Fry or Bob D in sight - I can promise you that .,,"

Although Bob D is right, you don't know enough about him to stuff his name in the end, as if this is his fault. I've personally seen women having children so as to collect more government money to buy heroin. They have no interest in being parents, in fact are horrible disasters for the kids (and society) they crank out, but the percentage of these monsters we enable with our money is actually pretty low, and I suspect that it is in your example as well.

Radical wrote:

Clinton's secret CIA operation in Libya was attacked and instead of doing something she went home to bed because it was politically to difficult to send help.

Hmmmmmm. Interesting set of facts that you choose to profess.

Clinton was NOT the head of the CIA. The CIA runs CIA operations. The CIA had a cover for their operation that it was a State Dept operation, which you clearly understand that it was not. That was a cover. You understand the implications of that, right?

When you say she went home to bed, you do know that this all came down at 3:40 pm EST? You definitively say that she went to bed instead of doing something about the CIA operation.

1. You seem to find it credible that high gov't officials are in the habit of leaving for home and sleep for the night at 3:40 in the afternoon. Do you really think that is credible? Really?

2. Do you really think the State Dept is in a position to issue orders to the military or the CIA in a military conflict situation????? Really?

When you post this transparent BS, you should understand that you only undermine your own credibility. It demonstrates that you ARE collecting "facts" from partisan sources, without doing any fact-checking, then bloviating about these "facts". Since the facts are wrong, your opinions are meaningless, and easy to ignore.

HFCS, where is the evidence humans are causing it? None. Just assumptions, insinuations, and extrapolations.

Really, who the f*#k cares WHAT is causing it.
The reality is it is happening and and there appears to be things we can do to not exacerbate it. When someone ends up in the emergency room all battered, bleeding and incoherent the medics don't sit around and debate what happened before treating a patient.
Maybe someone got lung cancer by smoking, maybe they didn't get it that way. The reality is, they have it and to continue smoking is nuts.

I suspect you do agree climate change is happening by your comment ..."(lack of) evidence humans are causing it". It suggests you do see it happening but disagree it's being caused by humans. So my point, REGARDLESS if you believe in anthromorphic climate change or natural processes we can do some things to curb it. After all, how many of us still die of plague ... And it was "natural".

Ken, the film 13 Hours is pretty good. You should see it if you haven't.

The reality is it is happening

Yes, CO2 has now broken through the 400 mark (as predicted) and continues to accelerate.

Scary.
