Is that Becky Plourd, Larry Zulim's wife?
Edit-Actually, I don't think it is Becky looking again.

I on the other hand was a scrawny, no account Canuck observing the whole thing from the periphery.
Horsesh#t. You were never scrawny nor no-account. You were always The Man. (Well, okay, from my perspective you were The Kid, but you know what I mean.)
And Bruce climbed Separate Reality? No wonder he's so weird.

Howdy everyone, Rob Lesher...wow! How you been? Hi Tarbuster, Nita. About the very first photo: This was the band Donnie, Alan, Jo, Rob and myself. It must have been taken at Bass Lake where we had a gig...I believe our first ever. Debbie Rose is in the photo as well. The later picture at the lake is of us going for swim prior to playing that evening (or the next morning??). The dog is my Pooch. Name courtesy of Hugh Burton who would always comment: "What a cute little pooch" when she was a pup and he was teaching me how to be a carpenter while building/framing my house in Yosemite West the prior year. I remember doing some water skiing at the lake with Jobee on this trip. This was about a month or two before I broke my back...you can see I still have some climber muscles on me. I withered up quite a bit after the accident...probably lost 20 lbs off my already lean climber frame. Rob, I remember you left the band to pursue another path. Was our last gig together later that summer in Wawona?? Can't remember.

That's most definitely the central house at Sunset Inn, the one Bill and Lauren occupy. It's come a long ways from being a "carnal recreation center," which it was in times past, as well as a hunting lodge, since they bought the place in the mid-seventies.
Jeff Mathis has told me of a legendary party there, climber/musicians jamming, and this looks like the one of which he spoke.
A couple of shots of the work Bill and his boy Andy have put into the place.

Hey Robbie- Glad to have you here on the ST.
Those sure were some fun times hanging out with Fig and living the life of the Leisure Barons. I was laughing at the concept of the Cracklin' Bud Helper just the other day.
Thanks for stokin' the Wayback Machine, brother and Happy New Year!
I wonder if the gal in that photo upthread is Susan (Sue?) who used to hang out with Chris Cantwell. The guitar man looks so damn familiar but I'm getting nowhere on a name.

No, I think that's Man Zanita. Or maybe Jack Pine.
But whichever of them it really was, he was harder than you. Or anybody.
We all miss him.

I kicked his ass easily one night, when I was deep in dream.
He called me Popeye, because my forearms were bigger than my biceps. I always liked that.

Damn- survival, I had no idea that yos falls blast actually occurred. I had heard about it working trails but I thought it was just a tall tale. That is some huevos to get on that after an event of that scale. What a tragedy though

New Zealand hard man John Dale gets his own post.
I'll never forget John saying "Well Bruce, we've both had so many good epics, I think we should have one together!"
1980
We climbed the Pacific Ocean Wall in 4 days, with Bob Williams. I think we did the 8th ascent.

Thanks cwilmot. Yeah it was scary going up among those giant blocks and slabs. The amount we blasted off was truly amazing to me. But I couldn't pass up the chance to ride a chopper everyday, work in such an amazing location, and make money!
Great picture Nita! Glad Donnie got to see the pictures.

Looks like Larry's getting ready to twist one of his signature "victory doobies", unless it was a "defeat doobie".
