One thing I observed about Ron is he never seemed to cross that line of insulting to the point of getting whack-o-moled. But I have no doubt the admins greased him and his posts. I'm also certain no explanation from them will be given. The new rules around here are as clear as mud. Whatever.
That said it is not surprising to me that it eventually happened. In his "prime" there was not a thread on the front page that he didn't inject his bat-shit crazy opines into. Many left because they were tired of that and I know this at least in part because of personal conversations with my friends that use to give a sh#t about this forum and just gave up caring as I did.
I'm not trying to be mean in any way but I really did wonder how the chemicals he exposed himself to while stuffing dead things affected his brain. Anyone that doesn't think he thinks there is a relationship to shitters in walmart overflooding and Jade Helm 15 being Broke Obummers exercises to take over Texas simply was not paying attention. His obsession with Benghazi and love and defense of the anti-american as$hole Mr. Bundy are proof.
If you got something out of conversation with him then great! This place won't be better or worse off w/o him. A number have been whacked and nothing has changed. We still have our mayor.
A couple years ago if he had been whacked I might have been stoked. At this point I really don't care one way or the other. Rarely did I read his bat-shit crazy posts because of greasemonkey. Hell... if I had any self esteem I'd grease myself. But Mr.E still hangs here and I like to check in on him. Werner too. locker and cosmic. and my new flying buddy squishy. I could go on.
Now can we have a group hug? At least with those of us that are leftovers.

Nature, you "old-time citizens and female equivalents" seem to have it down.
I'm relatively new here but comfortable on the sideline, so to speak, in the citadel inside the ring of bastions called The Flames.
Long ago (relatively speaking) Ron the Mon started posting to many of my threads and to The Flames' posts. We got on famously and he was given Flames approval to become the first new Flame in forty-odd years. ( And they were some pretty odd years, believe it!)
It's a part of me that I TRY to stay loyal to friends. Here online it's not hard to know who is your friend. One way is to use the PM function to contact other poster boys and girls, initiating, one hopes, a saner and more thorough dialog, and getting to know each other.
Another way is to attend the functions like Facelift and the gatherings n get-togethers, which might see you roping up with someone you like and feel gooc about on the vertical plane.
I never got much of a chance to do that last bit with Ron, but I still feel that loyalty to a friend now that he's been disappeared.
Nature's way seems a good way to be. I say hey there. And I mean it.
And to the folks at Terrapin STation, thanks for reaching out last week. You are marvelous peeps to the max and your family all LOOK marvelous, too, as my friend Hernando of Hernando's Bide-Away would say.
Yeah, old Ron left in disgust last year and came on back again. That is quite a fan club he has here, too, I must say. His entertainment value seemed to wane after a time, and he's not posted to the Flames hardly at all, if any--I'd have to look--since he woke up to find my thread missing.

I know two Rongs couldn't come together on the right if they tried, either. They would end up sniping away at each other> (No scopes allowed! See, this is a MANLY SPORT, this sniping and character assassination as practiced on the SUPER taco.)

I had no problem with Ron but the fact of the matter is he posted crazy ass shite like advocating for armed resistance to federal officers and the Walmart lunacy. If I owned this forum I would ban crazy tin hatters too.

Meh, I liked Ron, thought he was a good person. However, once he made up his mind on some bat sh#t crazy thing he didn't seem to listen well to others. So I walked away from reading his posts for the most part. It was working fine for me, for those who needed to get the last word in (Hello Philo: What say Craig Fry?) maybe not so much:-)
Say the same thing I said to Philo and Craig Fry as Dr F. when they got axed earlier: I wish him well. I'd tie in all day with all 3 of those guys. Then we'd argue politics at the belay stations I suspect. Mostly cause they are so wrong. LOL

eKat - the last thing I'm doing is going outside. It's been raining for two weeks straight and there is no end in sight. we went from 45% snow pack to 90% snow pack in 10 days. So no flying any time soon. But I did manage to get a nice shiny logo made.
jonnyrig - he provided climbing content? I'm being honest I never saw hardly any of it if he did. a 95:5 noise to content ratio will do that. But if that is the case you are correct. Everyone lost. But this isn't the first time and there are others that have been whack-o-moled that had a ton of climbing content.
The whole scorched earth mentality of the admins makes no sense. but then it seems to me this site isn't about climbing but rather the revenue it'll generate from banner impressions.
The idea of freezing threads is another head scratcher. keeping the politards in one place was a good idea and most went along with it.

To clarify for the benefit of Chaz, Cosmic and Couchmaster I was never banned, booted, censored or whack a moled. In fact I was asked directly by the admin why I was gone. Simply put I took a several month sabbatical from the forum. I was claimed by the same detractors here on this thread to be the rudest poster on the ST Forum. I lurked and noticed nothing changed in my absence. Then The Chief was gone and much of the vitriol dissipated.
I started posting again earlier this year and have maintained my stances on issues but pursued a less caustic less rude approach. But that didn't stop posters from taking their obligatory pot shots at me. No skin off my nose. I also had nothing to do with the booting. I didn't complain to the admin staff about Ron or any of his threads. Ron managed to get himself hoisted on his own petard. His booting was an admin decision. Maybe instead of trying to assess blame on an imagined boogie man you might ponder what got the posters banned?

I liked Ron just fine, especially years ago.
But somehow it did seem that he just got stranger and stranger the last couple years.
Even if he's a good ol' climber dude, which I know he is, the levels of anti-govt and anti-brown people vitriol he has been putting out is disturbing.
And no, it has nothing to do with lining up with the sheep, it has to do with his personal behavior.
