These are from Ament's "Master of Rock", the 1992 reprint, Adventure's Meaning Press.
They represent to me a particular flavor of nostalgia, adventure, & power.

Bvb- You mentioned up above that you thought this picture was flipped. I think you’re right, but I’m not sure. I do remember this was a really interesting problem, with just the two knobs to work with.
