If all goes well I will have satellite TV installed today, but baseball on the radio is still pretty good. Googling the current score with slow(over the months down load allotment) internet, sucks.
Go Giants!
Conventional has always been an antonym for Pence, so it should come as no surprise that one of the best catches of his Major League career was anything but on Tuesday night.
With one out and an 0-2 count in the top of the sixth, Jayson Werth hit a 91-mph fastball from Ryan Vogelsong to deep right field. Pence tracked back to his left and leapt into a chain-link portion of the fence, with his left arm extended into the padded section. Reminiscent of Michael Jordan, a fully-extended Pence somehow snagged the ball, tongue out. He then bounced off the wall, landed with a thud and the ball secure in his glove.
The catch robbed Werth of at least a double and helped preserve what was then a 2-1 San Francisco lead.
"I knew he hit it hard, and I was just like, 'I know that our park is big,' so I was trying to run back as hard as I could," Pence said. "Judging, when I looked at it, I was like, 'I'm going to have to go as hard as I can to make a jump and a stab.' Fortunately, I was able to get it."
Ha! Anyone think MJ when they watched that catch??

Great game last night. After game 3, I panicked a bit, thought the next games can summarize the season well (hot start and a crash). But how can one doubt Bochey and company!? Without Cane, Lincecum, Morse...amazing!

Don't get ahead of the course of events...the G-men still need to prevail over the Cards. That is going to be a lot tougher than beating the Nationals. The G-men and Cards always seem to beat the odds-makers' predictions, and are baseball "survivors." ESPN had a very interesting analysis revolving around managerial handling of bullpens, and the catchers calling the games; both Giants and Cardinals have superb catchers calling the games and providing leadership. Both teams have a recent tradition of winning when the chips are all down. The G-men shouldn't get too proud, since they only won on a wild pitch, allowing a runner to score.

Go Cards!
Vicarious rivalry, how sweet.
If the roles were reversed, "my team" would be any team playing against the Dodgers. Dodger fans can lose to the Giants vicariously again and again.
Bring it on apogee! I'll by you a beer to cry in :)

Well, of course that's true. You are speaking the obvious.
The generations-long rivalry between the Dodgers & Giants only makes the acrimony all the sweeter!

Nice to see that the FS1 shitty game calling isn't isolated to just the Dodgers.
They just yakked their way through almost the entire inning, without calling a damn thing!
STFU and call the game!
They did that twice in the Giants/Nats game last night, but we only suffered through one of them. Even though the radio was about 45 seconds ahead of the TV, we switched off the TV sound, listened to our beloved team of broadcasters, and therefore knew when to pay attention (e.g., Pence's catch).
The real highlights were afterwards. As just one example: John Miller noted that whenever Kruke or Kipe threw out the ceremonial first pitch in the post season, the Giants won. He then went on to say "For the record, Will Clark threw out last night's ceremonial first pitch." After the Pirates play-in game, Miller said of Bumgarner "He spits in the face of danger," to which Krukow replied, "No he doesn't. He shoots snot rockets at it." FS1 was light years worse.

Doug Fister, kiss my ass. No matter what happens in this series, I’ll always think of you wearing a red uniform, you Golden Valley HS puke.
someone in Merced is foaming at the mouse...
Yes, really like listening to the radio pair of Jon Miller and Duane Kuiper. Will be happy if the Gigantes make it to the World Series just so I can hear them call it. Eric Nadel was quite good when Texas was making it to the post season there a few years ago. Nothing stands out about the KC or Baltimore announcers, at least from what I've heard so far. Too bad the Dodgers tanked. Would be nice to hear Vinny do one more series before he checks out.

I'll also be rooting for the Cards...I was born in St. Louis, and my dad played minor league ball in the Cardinal farm system. Say no more...

Pure luck? Surely fortune comes into play, but so do the tangible strengths of the Giants in a postseason environment that is different from the regular season. They win because of timely hitting, stout pitching and defense, an astute manager, Bruce Bochy, with great skill running a bullpen and a contact-hitting lineup that can win games without the home run.
Great pitching tonight by Bumgarner. 3-0 Giants Win
