When I woke up my jaw was wired shut. Dentist had pulled so hard she dislocated my jaw. Took 8 weeks to heal. Really hurt when they snipped the wires and removed the wraps around and through the bone. Gained 4 pounds on vanilla milkshakes....

Get put under! It's crazy, watch the fluid come towards your arm, try to to fall asleep, next thing you know your teeth are gone, BAM!
Worse case scenario you get put under and never wake up, that's not a bad way to go though?
Icing on the cake, pain meds for a few weeks. It makes ST really entertaining.
PS, don't try to go on a 30 mile bike ride the next day like I did, your friends will have to walk you home.

Don't go climbing with inner ear vertigo either. Unless you want the added challenge of the feel of falling with the rock still firmly in grasp.
I vote again for getting knocked out.

I can't get over how many people are endorsing being put under. Sure it hurts but not nearly as bad as other injuries one can incur.

Your obviously worried about the whole thing. Think of it this way. You have a chance to look fear in the eye and deal with it. Or you can be put under and never get that chance. What one do you think will make you a stronger person in the future?
Going without anesthesia will definitely give you a better understanding of your pain tolerance. Something that might serve you well in the future.

Anesthesia is the bomb.....so fine, and there is a decent chance you'll come out of it.

True say.. But all four at the same time on local?? That's torture! One was bad enough!!!
Lol. Knowing i had a high pain tolerance did very little for me when it came to real pain, and real drugs. Sure it was nice to have a reference point, but i think it made me stubborn to take the pain meds early enough and then the pain would sneak up on me and it would be unbearable.
Getting your teeth pulled shouldn't be a formative experience... Unless you do it yourself i guess! Lol

Mikey you need to come to Nepal with me sometime for some "immersion therapy" Seeing me do what I do in the bush will make you stoked to have this done in the US with air conditioning and no water buffalo or goats in the surgical field.

So if there is really some diging in store, go to a dentist that can put you out and avoid the really nasty part of the job - being awake when those pliers are singing in your cakehole. That's hell.

Cakehole.... HaHaHaHa......
JOHN, if I recall, you have experience pulling teeth. Might be a good time to let WM know that story. You know give him something to think about.....
And Micronut.... good on you and your good deeds.

I lived in Apathy House and made a few bucks on the yard crew at Monterey College, got food stamps, and shared rent with three roomies.
None of them believed me when I told them I'd been to the dentist.
"Where'd you get that kind of money, Mouse?"
It cost me only $20.00 to have my trench-mouth scraped AND all 4 wisdoms removed.
I must have been good to my mother or something, cuz that's the best medical deal I've ever had.
"Believe it or not!"

I had mine done 4 at once. I was playing trumpet for a living and needed minimal down time. Sodium pentathol was awesome, fell in love with nurse right there. The oral surgeon used some kind of impact tool ( a dental funkness thing ) to shatter the tooth and pulled out he pieces.I played the solo part in the Mozart posthorn serenade 5 dsys after.

So, the docter prescribed 15mg of valium, I have never taken it, what does that do? he says I will be very tired and out of it...
15mg sounds very high, I have been reading and most people take 5-10mg... I am not no heavy dude either...
Thanks!
