The state of confusion

Knot a dutch fan. One of the dirtiest teams, ever.
Remember the last cup, where they fouled Spain forever
and never were called. But they played the good game today, even
if dirty (though not as bad as usual). . .

Bummer, Spain will rebound. . .

^-pretty much exactly what Steve said. Nice game by Holland, though. Some amazing plays.

Should we post the best flops of the world cup here or in another thread?

By flops do you mean dives or mistakes? Players faking fouls in
the box to get penalty kicks? Or mistakes like goalie Iker Casillia's
bad touch to Persie setting up Persie's 2nd goal?

Wow, just finished the massacre. The Dutch looked real good, anytime RVP or Robben are on top of their game, they can lift a team. When they both are on you get that result. I didn't see them as dirty, more agressive and physical and when you are playing a team that loves control and comfort, that's the key to disrupting them.
I do think Spain can bounce back, but they might be facing Brazil in knockouts.

I am enjoying every minute of this Cup and we still have 28 more days.

They got old, slow, and unable to adapt, much like their economy.
The Dutch defense was too good and the Spaniards' defense was too slow.

RVP was impressive. The Dutch are contenders for sure. Looking forward to see what the Dutch coach can do for Man Utd. next year. I just read that the W Cup is the largest event in the world. I am in heaven for the next month of games.

Yeah James, there have been rumors of Robben going to Man U, but I hope Bayern doesn't sell him. It is fun to watch he and RVP play together though.
Reilly, how do you feel about the ex-Gunner?

Greece might be vulnerable to the counter, but they are looking like the better team even though they are down.

Justin, being a Gunner fan I was horrified at van Persie's treachery, to put it mildly.
But I'm more of an Orange fan so all is forgiven. ;-)

Greece has my respect at halftime. They've just not finished. Colombia is
showing commendable discipline on defense with just the couple of lapses.
That was a huge save by Ospina. Dare I say un Ospinazo? Always been a
Cafetero fan and they've certainly solidified and even flourished under
Perkerman. Props to the Yanqui ref for ignoring most of the dives on both sides.

Credit to the Greek player who said there was no foul when he went down in the box. Greece has had its chances. Pretty entertaining game.

I've given the Netherlands win / Spain loss from yesterday some thought. I can't tell how much it was a Spainish failure and how much it was Netherlands teamwork, patience, domination and composure. But then again, maybe Netherlands only looked good in comparison to a better team failing to show teamwork.

Either way there were several moments during this game I saw a flawless Netherlands teamwork that seemed to border on telepathic in its execution.

Great Game Netherlands!!

With the triple threat of Robben, Sneider and Van Persie making this a force rarely seen in soccer history this could only be a flash in the pan as Robben and Van Persie have how much time left at this level of play?
Nevertheless, a great game exhibited by one exceptional team to dominate over another perceived world dominant team in Spain for the win.

yes Reilly, the future for Costa Rica in the 2014 world cup is almost written in stone. Ever since they wound up in the real group of death. They have to play 3 ex-world cup champs, 3 teams currently ranked in the top 10.

We've seen Forlan before when Uruguay bumped Costa Rica out of the 2010 world cup in the malos contra peores play-off round. Maybe we'll get some revenge, Netherlands style!

Memo a Los Ticos: No se permiten 'tackling'.

I see why Navas works at Levante FC, the dood is muy excelente!

Second half could be interesting if the Ticos can get another midfielder
or two forward a few times and not make such speculative plays.

And although I like the English announcers ESPN/ABC has hired I don't
understand why they can't make an effort to pronounce ferriners' names
properly. This blighter insists on pronouncing Cáceres with the emphasis
on the first 'e'. WTF? There's a bloody accent on the 'a' on his jersey!
I think I'll watch the second half on Univision.

And wazzup with all the empty seats? Sheesh, it's the freaking World Cup!
