Seriously though, this tragic event has been dragged down into another junk show pissing contest sort of argument.

Lets not disrespect a tragic event by projecting whatever it is that we want to argue about onto it. Ok?

Details are sketchy, so all we are doing is guessing.

Edit; I hate to do it, but you really gave up your lack of literary skills back there Ron. Extrapolate is a correct word to use, as is expound, or explain for that matter. I'm trying to be nice, but I really have to ask if there is a community college nearby. You could use the knowledge and they could use the business. It's a win-win situation. Go for it!

I have no idea what happened, I wasn't there.

It would be wrong to just blindly guess as to what happened without any facts to back up my theory.

Actually, there are reports of other climbers in the area.

E) other climbers in the area imo should be interviewed thoroughly.

According to one source who knows all, there were "D) no reports of other climbers in the area" so who do you suggest they interview thoroughly?

Sounds like the rock, had it been more accurately thrown, would have done more damage the the small caliber gun. The tree limb not so much. I had one hit me the other day and it didn't require a trip to the ER.

When is the thrower/shooter/branch chucker going to be lynched.

Were any laws broken there in Why-oming?

Not to be too contrarian, but I would say "a full blood Mexican" is one who is not a full crip Mexican.

The crips are the ones whose color(s) are blue, whilst the bloods are those whose color(s) are red or vice versa.

Heaven forbid that a full blood and full crip were to get to get together and have, obviously an-illegitimate, baby. A fully crippled blood? A bloody crip?

What to do with a blue-blood is left to the reader.

Does this have the stink of an assassination?

Someone stalked and expertly flushed an unsuspecting human being out into the open then shot him.

Could have shot into the tent obviously but did not.

So the shooter took cold blooded actions to get a clear target.
Not a clumsy drive by.
And only one shot. Why not shoot more?

Poaching mind set of only one shot? Or sniper mindset one shot one kill?

yeah, expert hit squad-- stand outside the tent armed with a .22. when the target comes out, throw a rock, shoot him once in the torso (with a .22), and then run away.

good thing the store was out of air rifles.

wtf. the entire story is getting weirder as we go.

This is horrible. Hope they get him soon before he tries to kill again.
He may be a local hunter with valid game tags.
And have a silenced .22 and maybe he's shown it to his buddies.
He may know the area well and could be suspected of poaching.
Perhaps he's been cruising forest roads at night
with night vision gear and a silenced rifle for some time taking game illegally.

Or not.
It is really weird.

Up here the fbi gets after them. Doing stuff down south would seem smarter
if that was what it is.

Authorities will acquire cell phone ping data for towers serving Wyoming road 16 to see who was on it at time of shooting.

Maybe evan search for phones that went dark (turned off) strangely
during that time in criminal effort to avoid tracking to the crime scene
east or west of the Big Horn National Forest. A good job for some rookies
just out of the academy.

the "lol" was at the ridiculous suggestion by another poster (which i quoted) that the shooting "smelled" like an assassination.

since the story as reported in the press is at odds with what seemed the likeliest explanation (drunken hunters playing stupid games with their target shooters after bar time), i wouldn't begin to place odds on the likeliest scenario without knowing a whole lot more.
