the Bugs provide a great backdrop for North American alpine... the group is very compact and the granite/glacier contrast with long vistas back into mountainous regions make a compelling story.

Here's a favorite of mine:

"Asleep at the Wheel" - looks absolutely killer, holy sh#t.

Degaine, same question man - where and what is that?! Also looks incredible!

Ed: ah now I think I'm seeing it - the 3rd Pillar, yeah? Cool angle on it.

Ed2: Floyd that is a rad photo.

that is Howser Tower in the Bugs, from the west, looking down Horse Thief creek I think... others here know better. Mike Church is coming up to the west ridge proper on Pigeon Spire, it is one of the spectacular "easy" routes in No. America...

the year is 1995.... the weather was spectacular (for a week, but a whole week) then it shut down and we bailed to the Tetons...

le-bruce,

Thanks for the compliment.

Top photo is in the French Alps.

Bottom photo is indeed a photo of me on the Third Pillar.

Cheers.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse, between Santa Cruz and San Francisco.

In four visits to Pigeon Point, over three years, I've been able to fly the kite twice. One of those times, I had enough breeze to lift the camera. That day, I got two shots. This was one of them.

A photo by Greg Bernstein of my son Braden leaping on the top of this pillar after leading a hard soft-stone pitch, next thing he did was rig a rad slackline from the tower back to the rim...yes I am a proud papa!

Chaz,

That is really prime. Great shot. I surfed there a few times until an abalone diver got munched by a great white.
