Almost every weekend I see people epicing deep into the night outside my door on the surrounding cliffs.

Selaginella is a popular epic.

10pm they're still thrashing around up there.

Kind of funny to watch ......

no shit! so we agree that plaidman was not in grave danger, was experiencing his own brand of adventure, and yet you, the critic decide you have the qualifications to judge other peoples adventures?

And he said that he had lead both Snake Dike & After Six successfully before. Plus, they had to wait in line for 3 1/2 hours at the base waiting for multiple parties, and didn't start the climb until late afternoon. No wonder they got benighted(not their fault).

Dood! Obviously it WAS their fault. They did not have to keep climbing when they hopefully knew atop the first pitch the route was not going to be easy for them to summit before it got dark.

Anyways it was fun playin with ya all,,, obviously we don't see eye to eye,,, i guess i just never knew it was so cool to be dangerously noob and then write about it in heroic fashion and that this gets you sponsored,,, whatever like i keep sayin im glad everyone is psyched,,, cuz in the end that really is all that matters,,, but the internet is public domain,,, you post yourself engaging in acts where there is obvious room for criticism YOU ARE BOUND TO GET SOME,,, SO SHUT THE F*#K UP AND QUIT BEING SUCH BABYS THIS IS THE F*#KING INTERNET FOR F*#K SAKE!!!!!

anyways ive wasted all of my yearly internet time(HAWK HOW THE F*#K CAN YOU WASTE YOUR TIME LIKE THIS EVERY NIGHT YOU F*#KING LOOSER), so untill next year\\

plaidman's infectious enthusiasm weighs so much greater than any criticism that it should be welcomed and honored. not only that he has bared himself in his adventures and own shortcomings that the shear honesty should be welcomed. some of us may be surprised, because our own caution has prevented us from sharing similar epics.

apparently, chongo is not the real chongo but chooses to use one mans name in his avatar to gain what? credibility? how sick is that? he should not be calling yosar for help but perhaps a psychiatrist is in order.

apogee the TR was short and sweet the video of the summit is posted further up this thread.
Here is what I posted before:
We made it to the top of St. Peter's Dome on Oct. 24th 2011. I ended up not going far enough left to find the tree and the 5.8 chimney on the 56 foot rock band. I saw a bent pin and went straight up there. Jeff Thomas thinks it is a new line on the 56 foot band of rock ( the pitch in total is 100 ft. to the tree). I am going to call it Plaidman's Fally. Because I was off route and because I had a 20 foot head first fall on the pitch. A bird beak Cassin Iron Hawk piton held the fall. My line is not suggested.

This is a climb in my 100 Days, 100 Miles, 100 Climbs in The Columbia River Gorge. I picked the hardest climb to do first and it was all that.

-------------------------------------------------

Above is what I deleted. I was told that Supertopo was not the place to post it. So I removed it. Thanks for asking for me to post up.
Follow the blog to see how the rest of the adventure plays out.
I now have 12 of the 100 climbs done and plan on getting a few more this week.
I love writing almost as much as I love climbing. The adventures are mine and I get to re-live them as I write.

Why are you so critical of someone who is so refreshingly open and honest in regards to their climbing accomplshments, failures and ambitions?

Because being dangerously inept while over-the-top enthusiastic is a quick way to get yourself AND YOUR PARTNER, killed. Spraying about it online and only getting ball-cupping attaboys from people with a misguided sense of kumbaya, only exacerbates the problem.

And he said that he had lead both Snake Dike & After Six successfully before. Plus, they had to wait in line for 3 1/2 hours at the base waiting for multiple parties, and didn't start the climb until late afternoon. No wonder they got benighted(not their fault).

Why the excuse making? If anything, having been on the climbs before should make them significantly easier. Not their fault that they got benighted? WTF? They CHOSE to start climbing at a late hour, taking only one rope. It was fully their fault, 100%.

If you are roping up on the f*#king approach to Snake Dike, you are a hazard to yourself and your partner.

The ball cupper kumbaya contingent seem to confuse incredulous criticism with personal enmity. I'm don't know Plaiddude, I'm sure he's a wonderful human being. But I don't feel the need to cup his balls and whisper sweet self-help inspirired Stuart Smalley-ism "You're good enough, smart enough, and gosh darn it you climb great!" in his ear after hearing his tale of noob-style f*#kness.

People are rarely able to view themselves objectively. Plaidude said the approach was easy, and a few paragraphs later that his quads were cramping and spasming. Nothing wrong with adventure and pushing your limits, but self-delusion deserves a swift calling out. Here is a dude who just AIDED mellow 5.7 talking about how he and buddy should have stopped and done Generator Crack on the way out. HIGHLY UNLIKELY. Be honest with yourself, and if you are unable, spray on the web and people will be honest with you.

And those honest people that call out the idiocy will be called "haters" and other silly sh#t, complete with 3rd-grade style posters about "haterz gonna hate" by the ball cuppers.

What a place.
