My families bank makes the loans and holds the loans.
I bet your bank actually cares about who it lends to, and maybe even expects to get paid back? That is quaint, thanks to Government Agencies like Fannie/Freddie and FHFA.

"Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the `criminal justice system,' I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal."
- Ron Paul

Not possible. It is not possible for a race, or any socially segregated group of people, to have any type of genetic or societal variation that manifests itself as variance from overall means. We all score the same as Asians, on average, on math tests. And certainly, if there is any difference that manifests itself in statistics, it should not be spoken of, it should be buried and anyone who does allude to it, even off the cuff, should be defamed.
Political correctness = the new Stalinism.

"We don't think a child of 13 should be held responsible as a man of 23. That's true for most people, but black males age 13 who have been raised on the streets and who have joined criminal gangs are as big, strong, tough, scary and culpable as any adult and should be treated as such."
Ron Paul
yep, 13 year old blacks are big strong tough and scary
Paul is a straight talker, all white people know what he is saying is true
takes a real man to say it, piss on political correctness
and don't you think for one second that he has a bigoted, racist bone in his body
Paul is a real American, he's got my vote

You are so right Norton! All the crap about DC having high crime is just lies spread by the right wing Media. There is nothing to back it up whatsoever.
That is why when I am at an ATM in DC at night and somebody is looking over my shoulder I am most afraid that it is ....
...Bill O'Reilly, that lying ba$tard!!
It is great to have an open mind about the World around you. Just not so open that your brains fall out.

Absolutely DC is a high crime area!
Absolutely them black males will hold white people up at ATMs!
Even 13 year olds! They teach em young in the ghettos.
It's high time we quit this political correctness crap and called it like we see it.
Now Bill O'Reilly, there is a real man. A modern day John Wayne.
Talk about having your brains spilling out of your open head! Oooh, he is SO smart!
Ron Paul/Bill O'Reilly in 2012

Paul Supporters: you really think this is a good idea?
Really?
WASHINGTON — Republican presidential contender Ron Paul said Sunday he wants to end federal student loans, calling it a failed program that has put students $1 trillion in debt when there are no jobs and when the quality of education has deteriorated.

DC, like many major cities, has an area of high crime rates (SE). (And I use that term sparingly as crime has been declining for over a decade).
Nonetheless, most of DC is not characterized by that rate.
I find it interesting how many cities claim to be the crime capital whether in press releases of by the word of the residents. DC. STL. Oakland. Chicago. Houston. Whatever.

Certainly not an expert Roxy but here is what I do know regarding own university (The University of Colorado).
Currently we get less than five percent of our funding from the state. I wrote that out so you didn't think I made a typo if I typed <5%
(crap: the machine just ate the message I had posted. I will try to recreate a small part of it).
The amount of money given to universities had declined greatly over the past many years. Thus, if students want to go to the university, they have to foot a larger portion of the bill.

The point is, people who want to go to the university are having to pay for more of it than before. Before govts subsidized it more. Now they don't. Hence tuition rises. And that is happening along with greater efficiency.

As usual, Dr. F nails it.
You want a second class America?
Get rid of govt. loans for college.
I've visited third world countries where bright people spoke to me and told me they were still trying to scrape together funds to get an education. We take that for granted here. Their countries suffered from their inability to help their citizens afford education. They have pools of human talent that remain untapped.

Oh gee, I think if we can hand out 700 BILLION a year to the military, when there is NO threat of any kind to our national security,
then yeah, we should not be defunding Pell Grants and trying to cut back on student loans
BOTH of which the House Republicans have introduced legislation to cut back on.
Screw students, screw National Public Radio, screw Planned Parenthood
They should all get by the old fashioned way, by inheritance

And to be clear, I think the massive cutbacks on university funding (in all forms) is not good. Only the wealthy will be able to afford it.
A race to the bottom!

Great Cosmic! My fondest hope is that Ron Paul is a third party candidate who siphons a significant number of votes from the Republican candidate.

Well, he decided to WORK for the State. Suckle at the teet of the taxpayer as it were. He despises the State so much, that he felt forced to divert his Johnny Galt-like unparelleled powers of productiveness to the State.
Just because I am an enemy of State does not mean I have given up on the next generation.
The quoted comment is from big stone in da butt and yes my employer is the state and I am an enemy of the State. I love a good “teet” but not the taxpayer. I am much more a payer that a taker when it comes to $$ and the state.
Nohea, the prime exmaple of a "Keep your govt hands off my medicare" Randian clownshow-extraordinaire.
Here is a prime example of ignorance of libertarian thought. I do not want social security or medicare, nor the TSA, EPA, FDA, or the Fed. Get it? I CAN live without these federal siphons.
Good that many seem to think there may be another option, pity the party members stay with their failing dempub ticket.
