777,

And to all my brothers and sisters in the Lord on ST I look forward to that. There will be more who join us for sure. They will come around.

Especially when it starts hitting the fan. Where else are they going to turn to but to GOD for help? We can point the way and move them along when they ask.

The Christian's Bible is a drug store. Its contents remain the same; but the medical practice changes...The world has corrected the Bible. The church never corrects it; and also never fails to drop in at the tail of the procession- and take the credit of the correction. During many ages there were witches. The Bible said so. the Bible commanded that they should not be allowed to live. Therefore the Church, after eight hundred years, gathered up its halters, thumb-screws, and firebrands, and set about its holy work in earnest. She worked hard at it night and day during nine centuries and imprisoned, tortured, hanged, and burned whole hordes and armies of witches, and washed the Christian world clean with their foul blood.
Then it was discovered that there was no such thing as witches, and never had been. One does not know whether to laugh or to cry.....There are no witches. The witch text remains; only the practice has changed. Hell fire is gone, but the text remains. Infant damnation is gone, but the text remains. More than two hundred death penalties are gone from the law books, but the texts that authorized them remain. -- Mark Twain

DMT,

You are right it is.

Lucifer and his fallen Angels (33% of the heavenly hosts) do conspire to mess things up. But we have been given their evil battle plans and we know what they intend to do. They are full tilt trying to do just that. Look around the world and see.

We also know how it all will end. In GOD's favor. I'm sticking with GOD.

Old Testament -- Under the law was death, and a foreshadow of Good things to come. The telling of Christ coming to the Earth to be with us.

New Testament -- No longer under the law, but under the saving grace and blood of Jesus. Now we are free to serve God as he wants us to. The Good things have come. Jesus came and showed us his life as an example. Now we just have to live it. And he will come again.

try this experiment at home, kids. replace the deity or religious figure of your choice with a small troll doll for one year. when things go bad, pray to it, when things go good, thank it. make up stories of the troll doll being here just to help *you* with the pain of being human in an absurd and somewhat indifferent world. love the troll doll. preach of the wonders of the troll doll to others, and snub the figures they've chosen to focus their prayers on...tell yourself how it's ok to be bad as long as you ask the troll doll for forgiveness when you feel guilt...tell yourself over and over that the suffering all around you is part of the troll's plan that you can't possibly understand, but know that there is one and as long as you trust the troll you will be rewarded posthumously....
try this for a year and tell me if you feel anything holy ;-)
the more industrious might consider starting a holy war of some sort to push the troll on others - if the troll tells you, then who are we to judge, right ?

i think my biggest beef with religion is that i feel it's all based on deception, and i hate watching nice people be deceived. especially when they are looking for comfort and hope, instead we get divisions and stubborn refusal to think or act, and a world almost completely opposite of what the major religious figures are even talking about (what's jesus's take on the eternal war, you hypocritical motherf*#kers ?? i call out any christian that is for the war - you are a f*#king hypocrite and a coward...)

i think my favorite quote is in the old testament though - the stuff about owning the children of your slaves in perpetuity...that's a god you can get behind, i tell ya...

from Matthew "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

and Leviticus "You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against your kinsfolk. Love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD."

but similarly:

"One who, while himself seeking happiness, oppresses with violence other beings who also desire happiness, will not attain happiness hereafter." - Dhammapada

"Ascribe not to any soul that which thou wouldst not have ascribed to thee, and say not that which thou doest not." - Baha'u'llah

"Beware lest ye harm any soul, or make any heart to sorrow; lest ye wound any man with your words, be he known to you or a stranger, be he friend or foe." - Ábdu'l-Bahá

"Never impose on others what you would not choose for yourself." - Confucius

"One should never do that to another which one regards as injurious to one’s own self. This, in brief, is the rule of dharma. Other behavior is due to selfish desires.” - Brihaspati, Mahabharata

"Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you." - Muhammad

"That which is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow. That is the whole Torah; the rest is the explanation; go and learn.” - Talmud

"The sage has no interest of his own, but takes the interests of the people as his own. He is kind to the kind; he is also kind to the unkind: for Virtue is kind. He is faithful to the faithful; he is also faithful to the unfaithful: for Virtue is faithful.” - Tao Teh Ching

Essene Gospel of Peace Book 1

http://www.essene.com/GospelOfPeace/peace1.html

And Jesus answered: "Seek not the law in your scriptures, for the law is life, whereas the scripture is dead. I tell you truly, Moses received not his laws from God in writing, but through the living word. The law is living word of living God to living prophets for living men. In everything that is life is the law written. You find it in the grass, in the tree, in the river, in the mountain, in the birds of heaven, in the fishes of the sea; but seek it chiefly in yourselves. For I tell you truly, all living things are nearer to God than the scripture which is without life. God so made life and all living things that they might by the everlasting word teach the laws of the true God to man. God wrote not the laws in the pages of books, but in your heart and in your spirit. They are in your breath, your blood, your bone; in your flesh, your bowels, your eyes, your ears, and in every little part of your body. They are present in the air, in the water, in the earth, in the plants, in the sunbeams, in the depths and in the heights. They all speak to you that you may understand the tongue and the will of the living God. But you shut your eyes that you may not see, and you shut your ears that you may not hear. I tell you truly, that the scripture is the work of man, but life and all its hosts are the work of our God. Wherefore do you not listen to the words of God which are written in His works? And wherefore do you study the dead scriptures which are the work of the hands of men?"

Ed,

Is it not interesting that Lucifer knows the scripture really well and miss-uses it in hopes to gain an advantage?

Lucifer was in the Garden quoting the word to fool Eve. It worked. He fooled her and the rest is history.

Lucifer was in the wilderness, quoting the word to attempt to bring down Jesus the Christ. It didn't work. Jesus overcame Lucifer and the rest is history.

There is some truth in all Holy Books of all the Faiths. No better way to fool the masses than to mix in truth with untruth. Lucifer has known the word of GOD since his beginning. He uses that knowledge in deceiving and cunning ways. Lucifer is the Prince of disinformation. He is the author of lies.

K-man,

You are right there are some "believers" who think that way. They are deluding themselves. GOD is not fooled. We are to be stewards of the Earth, not rapists. There is plenty in the Good Book that draws this truth out. It is part of the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

We are supported by Mother Earth. Mother Earth is our life support. To harm the Earth is to harm all mankind. The book of Revelations has something to say about those who harm the Earth and judgement will be upon them. I'll look it up later and post.

I look at John Muir as a modern era Wilderness Prophet for GOD. John knew the bible really well (apparently he had it memorized! I can't imagine. Some days I forget my own name) and quoted it constantly in his writings. He cared for the Earth and could see what we were doing. We need to heed his words today.

We have an obligation, a responsibility to care for the Earth and those who live on it. That is what stewardship is all about.

Can I get an Amen!!??
