My secret to being in shape at 55 years old;......I climb once a week, get no exercise in between, eat whatever I want (and can afford), play musical beds with my three small children each night and don't get enough sleep, and relax at work with 27 kindergarten children each day.......hell yeah I'm in mint shape.....

TG, those kids will keep you young or put you to death!!! Enjoy, they'll all grow old faster than you will.

Daily intermediate to advanced Pilates workout. Takes 50 minutes. A few Yoga poses to wind down. Most days cardio on the rowing machine or on foot. Four days dumbells (presses, nose breakers etc.,) and kettlebells (bench rows etc.) Lots of forearm and hand work, especially left side as I have to overcome a deficit there.

That or I am out hiking and climbing stuff.

What Largo said: Never let yourself go.

Just turned 57, older than I ever thought I would get... ;-)

I find the staying in shape easy. Its the managing chronic injuries thats the issue. As in, how do you stay in shape when your back is so bad it is hard to climb out of bed or your knee is so bad you can't walk up stairs?

9 months ago had a triple bypass op after 10 years or so of eating crap, doing nothing and stressing big time. Decided I had to get on the stick. So I walk (fast 4+ MPH) 5-7 miles a day over rolling terrain. Lost 30 lbs and feel fit and ready to go. Had a bit of a set back lately as I had to have hernia surgery, but can't wait to get back to it. As an earlier post said walking is underrated. I'm 52 and I'm in the best shape I've been in for about 15 years. Soon as the hernia heals up I'll be throwing in some running also.
