Yep, RRG rattlesnake 1, solar 0. Was pretty scary two hour drive to the vet, but he fully recovered, and was back at the crag the next weekend. Hopefully, he learned a little bit about them, and there won't be a round two!

First, I need to share my cat, Beezer. I got him from the shelter when he was about 2 months old, and he's been through a lot - bad bacterial infection, being hit by a car and missing for two days (someone let him out of the house while I was at work!!), and now, cancer. He's got a tumor the size of a tennisball on his intestines, and has been gradually losing weight over the past 4 or 5 months. Because of his age (11 or so) and because it's already spread to other organs, plus it wraps entirely around his intestines, we decided not to operate or otherwise treat it. He is still acting 100% normal and as long as he continues to do so, he will stay with me, but I have a feeling his time is coming very very soon - but at least I've had a chance to prepare, so it won't be hard to make the decision when the time comes. He is the most doglike cat; he enjoys playing fetch, eating eggplant parmesan, licking your face and following you around the house waiting for the first moment to curl up by your side and purr. He is very vocal and expressive, and, like most cats, he likes boxes. Only, sometimes, he doesn't pick boxes of appropriate size...

The other two are Mickory and Butch, respectively. It's hard to capture their absolute ludicrousness in a photo. Mickory, the white one, I suspect, is slightly retarded; he has a tendency to plop down somewhere in front of a wall, facing it, and stare up. He blinks very slowly, and always looks confused. I laugh at him daily for being so silly and acting so slow. Butch is a curious, playful pest who is always getting into trouble. He's also the cutest cat ever!
