I've had experience dealing with some of those groups, Bruce. Fortunately, at the time, I was the senior partner in charge of my firm's insolvency practice, so I assigned the case out to others, one of whom is now a bankruptcy judge himself. They were trying to stop a foreclosure, but didn't seem to consider paying back the money the bank loaned as particularly important.
Everyone who touched it ended up a victim of some fictitious lien or suit, including the judge hearing the case. In addition to recording a $25 million lien against her, they had a sign on their property reading "Pigs and Judges aren't Bolitproof [sic]."
The litigation did provide a light moment, though, when they filed a motion to deport one of my partners as an enemy alien. My partner was, shall we say, aggressively overreaching in his legal style, and several members of the bankruptcy bar, unrelated to this case, were tempted to to join as additional parties seeking the deportation.

Hey BASE, here is the ONLY official "Group" I pertain to.
Hey The Chief, don't you also belong to the Group of folks who rely on the gov't to support them?
Just checkin' ...

I note they took comments on the above mentioned article about their new non commentary policy. Any rational person would have to conclude the whole affair is meant to gin up interest in a failing publication. But of course, one would have to think rather than follow the leaders in lockstep to arrive at such a conclusion.

Please do tell what the difference is between your retirement when you finally get it and the one that I receive after supporting you and the gov't for 32 years of my life.
Thanks to the conservatives, there are very few jobs that offer retirement anymore (look at what they're trying to do to the USPS). So no The Chief, your retirement is very different from the one that I will (not) receive. Looks like your assumption about me is wrong yet one more time.
However, I bring up the point not to bash The Chief (or any other vet) for receiving retirement benefits. I bring it up to show the hypocracy of his rants, where he continually says the liberals want to suck off of the gov't tit, or that they look to the gov't to fix everything.
Most folks don't get a retirement package. They work, and get paid for their work, but beyond that they gotta save up for their retirement. Tell me why being a vet should qualify you otherwise, they get paid when they're working, right? Or, better yet, tell me why you don't think the gov't should be involved with anything, especially when you count on it for your livelihood.
The Chief's hypocrisy is never more blatant.

chief, you are wrong
no, not everyone gets social security
you have to have worked and paid in
You must have 10 years of work to qualify for Social Security benefits if you were born in 1929 or later. This translates into 40 credits, according to the Social Security Administration (SSA). If you do not earn enough credits, your credits will remain on account, but you won't earn any benefits. Instead, you may return to work to earn the credits you need to claim retirement benefits.
Significance
The Social Security retirement system is a government owned and operated system that collects money from workers and pays benefits at a later date. If you don't contribute to the system, you don't get any money from it.

Anyone know how come you negative types are so gullible and believe
the Big Climate Lie without question?
You're certainly the same kind whose heads nod like bobble head dolls for
nazism in days long gone, and we all know how bad that ended.

Par for the course: Warmists confusing normal weather with climate.
And who is writing the crap the weather channel talking heads are reading?
Ridiculous garbage.
"Increasing climate change is damaging everyone and everything.
You're a victim already but are to stupid to notice.
Lucky you have us at the weather channel to tell you how
F'd you are unless you start paying huge carbon taxes!"

The Chief, I didn't bring up your gov't support for any other reason than to show you that you yourself rely on the gov't, even though you rant that we "libs want the gov't to solve all our problems."
Be clear, I'm not attacking your service or the fact that you receive a pension. I'm just pointing out that you relied on the gov't to take you safely into battle, and now to help support you after your service. Yet you turn around and tell us the gov't can't be trusted to solve other problems.
“A new consciousness is developing which sees the earth as a single organism and recognizes that an organism at war with itself is doomed. We are one planet. One of the great revelations of the age of space exploration is the image of the earth finite and lonely, somehow vulnerable, bearing the entire human species through the oceans of space and time.”

Sorry- the skeptical science rebuttal was copied without error- must be a problem at their site. Here is another hysterical prediction of global cooling and references to a lot of other interesting articles of late. As we descend into winter it might be time for me to begin posting links from solar scientists with papers about low activity solar cycles we are entering and the inevitable cooling climate. Throw some logs on the fire, turn up your thermostats, it's the return of real winters.

Rick, to you, Bruce's post is most poignant:
So what are the parallels with AGW deniers aside from the obvious rejection of the institutional authority? Why [it's] the constant and obsessive seeking of legitimacy within the institutional authority of course. Top of the list is latching like a leech onto climate science contrarians like Lindzen, Spencer and Curry. Fair enough, surely they (all half dozen of them) at least understand the science.
Reasonable .... if you are capable of forgetting that the whole lot of them work within the system that is considered illegitimate, so why would their opinion be considered more pure than the others? By what devices do the deniers rate the opinions .... if the institutional process is not trusted to do its mandated job of judging the opinions?
In other words, it's funny that you latch onto the very few who claim Global Warming is not made by the hands of man, at the same time dismissing the hard science of the 95%+ majority.
Give it up.
