Took an almost hiatus while skiing at Whistler. Skied mostly off-piste 7 days in a row and ran just 3 - 4 miles every other day. A day of continuing ed for skiing at Timberline the next day. Climbed St. Helens and ski descent - legs of lead on mushy snow - sufferfest....Does this mean I am getting old? Horrors!
Back to normal aerobic schedule this week. Lift skiing really doesn't constitute good cross training!!

Yosemite,
I still quite havent mastered the rhythm for a standard double under. What I've had to do was one double under, then a normal jump, then double under...repeat. So 2-1-2-1-2-1.
Yesterday I did a more heavy set as I had been doing a lot of cardio based workouts.
Yesterday:
5 rounds for time
5 "hang" Power Cleans Push and Jerk (start at knee, pull up into shoulder press, finish with the push and jerk.)
10 burpees
North was the one who got me interested in Crossfit. After belaying him on Grand Illusion and being less the half his age I knew I could change something to get stronger!

8 miles in the hail today.
A light 5 for Friday, then a SAR drill all day Saturday.
Long run or a peak on Sunday? Decisions, decisions.

Sonic,
You are a freaking beast!! Strong work. When you venture back this way, I have the route for you...after your new training regiment, you'll hike it.
Rest day for me today.
Tomorrow: 20 squat cleans, 15 pullups, 10 burpees, 15 squat cleans, 15 pullups, 10 burpees, 10 squat cleans, 15 pullups, 10 burpees, 5 squat cleans, 15 pullups, 10 burpees. Add weight to each round of squat cleans, so last round you may not get all 5 unbroken.
I'm sure that many here will believe this to be non-aerobic. Heh, heh.

North,
Will do! I'll be in town 11-13, leaving the afternoon of the 14 so I'm sure I'll have some time to go climb!
Ran 8 miles yesterday with about 2500 elevation gain.

Oh yeah Salad, way to go!! I've been waited to see how that came out.
The most I've down there is down and up bright angel, which conked me ( my first long trail run, done on a whim!)
Today I ran another half marathon, same course as last Sunday. Shaved off half an hour though, so you can imagine how slow I'm going!

thanks jaybro! it went as good as it could have considering i was a weekend warrior when it came to training.
went down the South Kaibab, was hoping to run more of it but a bit to steep for my knees. got to the top of North Kaibab just at dawn, 7 hours 15 minutes. made decent time down the corridor to Phantom Ranch. thought I had a chance of coming in around 15:30 but had issues the last four miles up Bright Angel. total time was 16:50. had two wrong turns that cost me some time.
the most enjoyable time was South Kaibab to North Kaibab in the dark...didnt see anyone. coming down North Kaibab when it was light was spectacular.
low points were getting back to Phantom Ranch. GPS lost signal and i kept thinking it was around the corner when really it ended up being about 5 miles away. and of course leaving the 3 mile rest house going up Bright Angel, thinking it was the 1.5 mile rest house. was not happy getting to the 1.5 mile rest house when i thought i was finished.

Did ten sprints of butterfly today, 25 yards each
Two strokes per breath. Double dolphin kick.
Total yardage swimming today was 1,000, which isn't much.
I aint'good. I ain't fast. And I ain't pretty. But I did it. Not bad for being age 57. You young ones could blow my doors off.
Gotta get this thread up to 1,000. This is #901.

This Running Times article gives alot of the detail.

Maybe some others can't picture this either:
The South Kaibab Trail switchbacks lead to the canyon floor.
Couldn't find the year of this, but some folks fly down the trail:
Allyn Cureton’s 3:06:47 for the 21-mile single-crossing fastest known time had stood for 30 years is truly remarkable. Cureton, still living in nearby Williams, Ariz., was on hand this weekend as Flagstaff’s Jared Scott and Jason Wolfe raced from the North Rim to the South Rim with one goal – to break his FKT. Scott finished the 21-mile run in 3:06:10 to trim the standard by the slightest of margins. Wolfe, delayed by a mule train on the final ascent, was just behind in 3:13:45.
Dave Mackey checked his shoes for mule dung and looked back towards the Grand Canyon. There was no finish line, but a few fellow runners brought a well-deserved beer over. Mackey’s watch read 6:59:56 on that November 2007 afternoon, a new Fastest Known Time (FKT) for the epic Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim (R2R2R) run across the Grand Canyon and back.

I was able to get in 50 days of X-Country skiing. We had a tough winter. Biking's been good so far. I've been able to get out 3-4 time a weeks at my local single track trail- Usually I ride for an hour and a half and the heart beating pretty good
