Oil and fracking chemicals spill into Colorado’s floodwaters
By John Upton
Fracking equipment overwhelmed by floodwaters in Weld County, Colo, northeast of Denver.
Heavy rains returned to Colorado on Sunday and hampered rescue efforts after last week’s flash floods. The confirmed death toll has risen to seven, and hundreds are still unaccounted for. An estimated 1,500 homes are destroyed. Some 1,000 people in Larimer County, north of Boulder, were awaiting airlifts that never came on Sunday — they were called off because of the foul weather.
The floods have also triggered other problems that have gotten a lot less media attention: Fracking infrastructure has been inundated and its toxic contents have spilled out. Pipelines that transport fossil fuels are sagging and snapping under pressure. Tanks that store chemicals and polluted water are being overwhelmed and toppling over. Oil and gas wells are flooding.
The Boulder Daily Camera reports:
Lafayette-based anti-fracking activist Cliff Willmeng said he spent two days “zig-zagging” across Weld and Boulder counties documenting flooded drilling sites, mostly along the drainageway of the St. Vrain River. He observed “hundreds” of wells that were inundated. He also saw many condensate tanks that hold waste material from fracking at odd angles or even overturned.
“It’s clear that the density of the oil and gas activity there did not respect where the water would go,” Willmeng said. “What we immediately need to know is what is leaking and we need a full detailed report of what that is. This is washing across agricultural land and into the waterways. Now we have to discuss what type of exposure the human population is going to have to suffer through.” …
A spokesman for the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission said the agency is aware of the potential for contamination from flooded drilling sites, but there simply is no way to get to those sites while flooding is ongoing and while resources are concentrated on saving lives.

Bruce,i'll speak for myself only , a veritable hick from the sticks as judged by your "superior grasp of reality as an enlightened 21st century B.C. socialist sophisticate". Do you know bullshet when you see it and hear it Bruce? I would dare to say you don't consider yourself often baffled by it. So why in the hell do you rely on the interpretation of reality as presented by these CAGW zealots when you can see with your own eyes and remember with your own neurons that weather has always changed, always had it's severities, and the projections of climate science have been consistently wrong and getting worse even as the cries to pick our pocketbooks have become ever shriller? Your capable of understanding the science, so why not take a critical look? Why not be self reliant on all levels? Why defer your families future solely to the "experts" when you've seen them be corrupted and wrong many, many times in the past? You don't have to reject all norm's or cause any harm to others in self reliance, just think and do dependent on no one else but yourself. Pretty simple.

NASA says you don't know what you are talking about....
CO2 and NO3 act as cooling agents in the atmosphere.
“Carbon dioxide and nitric oxide are natural thermostats,” explains James Russell of Hampton University, SABER’s principal investigator. “When the upper atmosphere (or ‘thermosphere’) heats up, these molecules try as hard as they can to shed that heat back into space.”

Upper atmosphere cooling is part of global warming science.

Wilbeer, first you should be looking at the great Roy Spencers temperature anomaly indexes for an independent interpretation of the data. Second, why isn't the current anomaly the highest ever instead of fifth or sixth- I mean that was the projections- as CO2 rose so would the temps- with ever increasing confidence levels in one after another AR.
We've never received an adequate answer to that one Shack.

Why would you not trust our data?
Distrust in government, move to Russia ,you can see it from your house.
Has Roy Spencer put a satellite up yet. All conjecture, opinion.
Not data..

Well just keep deferring to the experts Bruce. If it's right for you so be it. I can't see myself replacing reality with your interpretation anytime soon. Herman- I liked that guy. he at least knew how to mass produce pizza versus the no nothing disorganizer we yanks have.
Wilbeer, Spencer's worked for Nasa as long as just about anyone there.

Says who? Adequate answer to that research has been given more than 10 times in this thread. That you don't understand them or choose to ignore them is your problem.

Interesting that Spencer is a trusted scientist because he is employed by NASA but Hansen, Mann, Smith et al. cant be trusted when they are employed by NASA.

I know Spencer works at NASA,is his name on the data.No.
His contending opinion is only alive in the denieosphere.
Show me on Nasa's website[s] where Roy Spencers contending opinion is found.
Same with the Noaa.
It is hard to believe you cannot trust data ,read the link .http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/2013/08/
Chef ,link up your claim.

Chief, is that list supposed to be all 'contrarian' scientists?
They are key personnel in the Aqua Program, so what?
I suspect The Chief has mild cognitive issues.
