solyndra received over $500,000 in fed loans, what did the taxpayers get? a thousand more people on unemployment...oh, wait, this must be part of barry's jobs plan:
Bookworm, correct me if I'm wrong, but Solyndra was a private company, not a part of the federal gov't. In other words, part of the capitalist system that you love, that has failed. Part of the system that you tout as the solution. Part of the salvation of America.
This is what Social Security should be invested in, right?
Aren't Corporations people too?

So Obama wanted to do formal address to the HOR- he scheduled it for Wednesday night, the same night as the GOP debate. Boehner says, 'uh, no...we're busy that night. Thursday is better for us.'
Thursday is the opening game of the NFL season.
Obama said...'OK, whatever you want, Mr. Boehner.'

It was a private firm that received Fed funds to prove how great solar sh#t is. The Chiners fixed that! They did it cheaper.
Fix that problem, Obama. He isn't capable....

So deal with it until you have wage parity with a chinese for the same job. What's the Republican solution?
Free trade = more profits for corporations because they can make products in China/Vietnam/Sri Lanka/Outer Mongolia at the local wage scale + shipping and sell them here at our wage scale. Due to free trade and monster ships, the cost of raw materials is approximately equal worldwide and the cost of shipping finished goods is nil compared to the unit selling price. How many iPhones do you think fit in one shipping container?
Air shipping is so inexpensive that if you order an Apple computer that isn't in stock in the US, they air ship it from China within a day or two. At no extra shipping charge.
Biggest proponents of free trade? Republicans of course. Biggest opponents: unions, of course. Each for their own self interest. Welcome to a democracy. Or Ayn Rand economics: self interest by all participants is the the best economic model.
Clinton did his best to balance all trade interests with NAFTA. Opposed by both the trucking companies and the unions (strange bedfellows) out of fear of competition from Mexican trucks on our highways. Which is now happening because finally Obama is implementing the full treaty. Wow, he's following a treaty (law of the land) that was pushed by big business and approved by a Republican majority House (Newt's House). Bush refused to implement that clause.
So I repeat: When was the last time you bought an expensive item from China? Where was your cellphone made? Look on the back. Where was your Costco desk made? China or Vietnam?

Disappointed & disgusted? Absolutely. Too bad you Repugs can't put anybody forth who is anything better than the last POS POTUS, though. And doubly too bad that our political system doesn't allow the incumbent's party to come forward with an alternative at each election. Just might keep that incumbent on their toes, and focussed on 'Change'.
