When I move to JT, the first day I went climbing was with Todd, Blitzo, and Tucker (yeah, that's a motley crew!).
Since then, I've been on freesolo marathons with Blitzo where he showed me dozens of quality lines, had him holding the rope when I climbed the hardest two things I've ever done there, had him spend many hours patiently belaying me as I flailed and dogged on things that were way over my head, all over JT.
He would happily go out bouldering with me, spotting and snapping pics of the climbs, the landscape, the critters. Never complaining no matter what the weather was like (I'd drag him out when it was reaaallly cold, for good friction ya know!) or how long the walk, despite the fact that he wasn't even going to be climbing. And he definitely saved my ass a few times when I would have landed on my head without him being there.
Not a lot of people will give up their days just to support your efforts, and even call you ahead of time unsolicited and offer "hey, if you're coming out tomorrow and want a belay on that thing just let me know". He did that all the time. That's the kind of friend he is.

Pretty long visit with Blitzo today after Todd & Epi left. Much of the same for me, he's aware and thankful for the visit but pretty quiet and very weak. We talked about silly stuff including how unseasonably cool it is, pictures and well wishes from the Taco, our misfortune in blowing a rod in our new boat.....
The aides are keeping him tidy, fed and comfortable. I brought some clippers to do a trim and talked about getting his beard fixed up next.
The facility has given him one of those giant super-tanker mugs to drink from. You know the ones... giant from Circle K or those you see on the on Discovery Health when they haul some dude out of his room with a crane. The mug is ridiculous and amazingly difficult to drink from with it's size. The damn straws just fold over and he can't get anything, it was really winding him up. I stepped out for a few and grabbed him one of those hard plastic cups with built in no-spill straws. When I returned, he drank probably more from that cup than in the last 6 hours.
I imagine we'll continue to find things to make him more comfortable. I've been taping pictures and postcards on his closet door so please continue to send visual stuff. Reading and such as Todd mentioned is pretty limited other than what is read to him. But photos, cards or post cards seem like a good thing to focus on.
He's looking forward to more visits. I gave him the low-down that The Agent was coming today as well as Beth and Cho today, tomorrow and Locker headed back down soon. This makes him happy, which makes me happy.
I think I mentioned it before but if you're planning on stopping by please PM me for some additional information. We also like to hear how things go so maybe we can start building a preferred time to visit and expectations for others.

I love reading posts like this. Before Blitzo went into the hospital we were having some pretty hilarious lunch dates where he told me so many stories. Keep them coming!

hey there say, agent... just letting you know...
the autograph puppy does not need to JUST use that
THICK pen for folks to sign it...
it MIGHT take up too much room... and use up all its
space... you can use it but maybe a BALL POINT? pen
will LET more folks sign it...
:)
(some other felt pens are no good though, as they will bleed into it)...
wow, now i am praying that the quilt gets there for monday, !!!!
so glad, and now locker can get there to blitzo with his hug, too!!!!

Hospice care is pretty serious, and has been weighing heavily on our hearts the last couple of days.
Having friends and support is such a gift of humanity.

Hey Blitzo I am at a loss at what to say that hasn't already been said. It's all for You. Know that Everyone cares for you and about you. <3
The effects of kindness are not always seen immediately.
Sometimes it takes years until your kindness will pay off and is returned to you.
And sometimes you never see the fruits of your labors, but they are there, deep inside of the soul of the one you touched.
May the Angels stay with you each Precious Day.
Loving, Protecting and Lighting Your Way.

Love and more love to all of you. Sooze, please PM me the address. I'll send a post card from Greece ASAP.
If I didn't have people traveling from all over the world to Greece in this last act of taking care of my father, I would so cancel this trip. Instead I have chaos waiting that I must attend...
So instead I'm sending my Love, my Heart, my Best. Tell him he has me in his corner.
Hugs,
Anastasia Frangos

BLT&P, that's super touching and so true It actually reminded me of a friend of mine who passed away years ago from brain cancer. He was my mentor and took me under his wing when I was a in my early twenties. Great boss, great man & missed to this day. The type of person that forever imprinted on my life. I think that Blitzo falls in that category too.
Anastasia, email sent and thanks but anyone wanting to send cards or post cards can send to our home.

Drawings, postcards or printed photos are probably best, we're making a photo collage across from his bed.

this from Blitzo in TR's recently bumped 2009 "why does everyone hate christ....etc" thread. No attribution. Song lyrics? Did he write it?
Whoever we are
Wherever were from
We shoulda noticed by now
Our behavior is dumb
And if our chances
Expect to improve
Its gonna take a lot more
Than tryin to remove
The other race
Or the other whatever
From the face
Of the planet altogether
They call it the earth
Which is a dumb kinda name
But they named it right
cause we behave the same...
We are dumb all over
Dumb all over,
Yes we are
Dumb all over,
Near n far
Dumb all over,
Black n white
People, we is not wrapped tight
Nurds on the left
Nurds on the right
Religous fanatics
On the air every night
Sayin the bible
Tells the story
Makes the details
Sound real gory
bout what to do
If the geeks over there
Dont believe in the book
We got over here
You can't run a race
Without no feet
n pretty soon
There wont be no street
For dummies to jog on
Or doggies to dog on
Religous fanatics
Can make it be all gone
(I mean it wont blow up
n disappear
Itll just look ugly
For a thousand years...)
You can't run a country
By a book of religion
Not by a heap
Or a lump or a smidgeon
Of foolish rules
Of ancient date
Designed to make
You all feel great
While you fold, spindle
And mutilate
Those unbelievers
From a neighboring state
To arms! to arms!
Hooray! thats great
Two legs aint bad
Unless there's a crate
They ship the parts
To mama in
For souvenirs: two ears (get down!)
Not his, not hers, (but what the hey? )
The good book says:
(it gotta be that way!)
But their book says:
Revenge the crusades...
With whips n chains
n hand grenades...
Two arms? two arms?
Have another and another
Our God says:
There aint no other!
Our God says
Its all okay!
Our God says
This is the way!
It says in the book:
Burn n destroy...
n repent, n redeem
n revenge, n deploy
n rumble thee forth
To the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side
cause they dont go for whats in the book
n that makes em bad
So verily we must choppeth them up
And stompeth them down
Or rent a nice french bomb
To poof them out of existance
While leaving their real estate just where we need it
To use again
For temples in which to praise our god
(cause he can really take care of business!)
And when his humble tv servant
With humble white hair
And humble glasses
And a nice brown suit
And maybe a blond wife who takes phone calls
Tells us our God says
Its okay to do this stuff
Then we gotta do it,
cause if we don't do it,
We aint gwine up to hebbin!
(depending on which book youre using at the
Time...cant use theirs... it dont work
...its all lies...gotta use mine...)
Aint that right?
Thats what they say
Every night...
Every day...
Hey, we cant really be dumb
If were just following gods orders
Hey, lets get serious...
God knows what hes doin
He wrote this book here
An the book says:
He made us all to be just like him,
So...
If were dumb...
Then God is dumb...
(an maybe even a little ugly on the side)

There is a place high on the rock
where the holds feel sharper
the edges working to get beneath the skin
cutting in so deep that it hurts
when your feet are not secure
in that space
right between the next move
when almost all is lost...
The sky will come close enough to touch
the world will move to a single heart beat
The view will be of all the seasons
winter, summer, spring and fall
both night and day
sunset and sunrise blazing
everything will be glowing in the best light
and all the stars will be out
in the deepest night
in that split second before the next hold
you finally can count them all
while everyone you ever loved and ever knew
will be there hugging you
and once you grab that sweet hold
the one that will let you hold all you weight with ease
so you can look around and really see
there the journey really begins
and many of us will be there
no longer needing the rope
AFS
