I'm not sure how I know this, but I do.
Blitzo is too good a dude to have to hang out here anymore. It truly is better on the other bank of the River. He must of had some glimpses. I have.
Ask him.
Don't feel sorry for him. I wouldn't want that.
I only met the dude briefly, many moons ago. Probably burned one with him.
I could be wrong on this , but it is something I feel from the heart.
Peace Out, Billy.

Neebee, I can't wait to see the quilt! And the pillow! So much love is poured into such a thoughtful and lovely gift! Blitzo will be blessed to wrap up I side of it with all the positive love it contains. He hasn't been reading the forum lately so I will tell him all about it tomorrow if the nurse thinks he is ok to have a visitor. Praying and sending good vibes with you for our friend!

hey there say, agent... wheww... i had finished the group-post-hugs quilt, but i had to do the hand stuff to hold its back-and-front, together, wheww... i just finished it and am washing it, as i had to use the floor a few times, and i want it clean for him...
it is going out in the mail early, so i posted that it is as good as sent...
i just saw legg's name on this thread, and got it on in time, and had room for 2 more that are new, but i DID not sew those names, they are on the BACK, in pen:
you will see them...
you can sew over them, if you like, >:D<
(leggs, is now sewn though... and just saw clint, but i had no room for him so will put him ON the pillow, or, i might be able to write him onto the back, as well--will see after it washes...
i sure hope the shape will not get distorted in the wash...
REALLY REALLY i did not do a very perfect or well job, as,
HURRY was my main concern now...
PS:
NICE HISTORY to this quilt:
a climber named jack menendez, that got my brother chappy started, when they were just kids, as to climbing, well:
HIS wife VOLUNTEERED to help embroider some of the squares...
she just has been through her own battle with cancer...
she did about 20, and then i added them into the ones i did...
so, we have REAL climber HISTORY in this, all for blitzo!!
--
well, been up all night, working, so i got to go sleep...
oh, might as well tell you know, so i do not have to add a note, and can get to mail faster in morning:
FUN NOTE, FOR READING THE HANDLES:
each square kind of matches the 'handle/name's as best i could...
THOUGH a few just don't...
ex:
tan for climber-words, terms, dirt, terms, etc...
green for outdoor handles, etc...
lines for real names that can be 'signed on the line'...
flowery for households...
gingham for ???
satiny, for karl and nature, as they like india...
red for 'attention type names'...
blue for blue-names and water stuff...
etc, things like that...
that way it is easy to REFIND names, after you read them...
they are NOT put on by names, though, they are put on by colors to
at least match a bit...
well, got to put quilt in dryer now:
has no inner batting so is EASY to wash and dry for him...
:)

That cactus is sitting on my patio table. He took that shot only a few months ago, back in the spring. He also taught me all kinds of stuff about the local flora and propagating different plants.

Being with friends and family who are terminally ill can be heartbreaking and painful, but also a transcendent experience. When the physical end is near, love flows as easily as water. There is a beautiful clarity about what matters.
Sending caring thoughts to you all.

A good quote to remember here is from Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, as his time was approaching: "Let us cross over the river and rest in the shade of the trees on the other side..."
Even though I've only known Bill for a brief time, we did get a chance to hoist a few cold ones together at a couple of the Boulder HH's; a VERY cool dude, indeed.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread as well as I had hoped, and it is with sadness that I read Blitzo is in hospice care now.
A few years ago, I was out at New Jack with Blitzo and several others, and he was in the car coming back to Joshua Tree, sitting in the back seat with my friend Peter, who had met Blitzo just that day.
Peter was mesmerized by the story-telling Blitzo entertained him with the entire way. Something about a commune he lived on for a while. I just recall there was a lot of sex, drugs and...well, lots of that, for sure. I had seen many images from nature and climbing that Blitzo has taken, and I SUPPOSE it should have come as no surprise that part of his story would have been that which he told that day, but it still seemed surreal to hear it!
Blitzo, I will keep you in my thoughts.

Just got back from visiting Blitzo this AM.....Epperson and I stopped by for a chat and a visit. He looked good, but seemed very tired.. sleepy and mumbly. He was glad to see us. He isn't very mobile,...and can't really read or go on the computor anymore....but he enjoyed the visit. The place he's at now is busy, and there are lots of cute nurses to come and pester him.
He was comfortable enough for someone who cannot get out of bed, and we will be visiting him again soon;..see if he's more awake next time. I'm sure any cards, good words, or visits would be greatly appreciated at this time.... Blitzo is a good good dude;...and many many of us in the climbing community have spent many great days at the crags w/him....I have, and I appreciate all of them;...he has been a very good friend to me for many years now. Keep up the communication and positive vibes;....he appreciates it greatly.
