Forget about "The Science" of doom. Fire up your scroungeatron and find us some scientific applications to make life better in the real world.

"Find us some scientific applications to make life better in the real world"

Rick, that is the main intention of the scientific/green movement involved in climate change.

It is not the intention of the government or scientists to enslave our population with overbearing taxes or to destroy the economy.

It is the drone of propaganda from the FF industries that is responsible for holding these technologies back.

Solutions, new industries, adaptations and alternatives will fuel the new economy.

Wilbeer, i'm sorry to say you are on the naive side if you actually believe what you said in your above post. I've seen these people in action all too often, sometimes too up close and personal. Those not motivated by the hideous vision that humanity is a virus in the body of planet Earth and should be removed are all too often motivated by greed to control and mobilize the aforementioned for personal gain. The oil companies are often behind funding the rabid greens by extortion or willingly as a way, through increased regulation and cost of entry, to eliminate their lesser competitors.

On another note: All of you should look up the article titled " Global warming? No, actually we're cooling, claim scientists". It's in today's Daily Telegraph, i would provide a link but it doesn't seem to work. Anyway, for you people more familiar with the IPCC process- is there validity in the article's statement that many country's are demanding more than 1500 changes to the report?

Back to work for me for the 19th straight day. So much to do and so little time to do it.

Naive side.

So ,I do not believe the FF industries want to hamper ones economic mobility,or create economic disruptions either.

But that is exactly what they do.

Well offers like yourself are well isolated from this fact.

And why do they call those events by "100 yr" events? Well because on average they happen every 100 yrs,, at least thats the general thought eh?

You understand nothing about the occurrence of these events.

A "100 year event" is a statistical description that means there is a 1% chance of that event being exceeded each year. You would know that if you paid attention in high school Earth Science.

A "100 year event" could be exceeded every year for 10 years, and then not again for 990 years, and it would still be a "100 year event."

Most professionals know the underlying assumptions of stationarity, independence, and constant probability distribution used to calculate the "XXX year event" are violated. Not many people in the field use the "XXX year event" without at least some clarification.

Saw another article this morning about CA's climate. Because of the dependence on the citrus industry remarkably accurate records have been kept for the state.

Since 1896 the increase in average temperature has been 1.5 f

Thanks TGT, that's pretty close to .8 C global temp change we've been talking about all along.

What's your point?

You think the heat island effect may be at work here maybe?

Heat island effect has been adjusted for in the global average data sets.

Anthony Watts, you know, the Fox weatherman, was part of a paper that confirmed the temps were being calculated correctly and the proper adjustments made.

for all you climate change skeptic deniers:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2415191/Global-cooling-Arctic-ice-caps-grows-60-global-warming-predictions.html

just 6 years after the bbc predicted an ice-free summer in the arctic by 2013, the arctic increased the ice cap by nearly a MILLION square miles with some scientists warning of another ice age

go figure...

No one expects each year to set a new record like 2012 did. The 201x average is close to the 2011 blue line, and well below the 200x average.

Fortmental don't you remember BP's little green commercial, run over and over again for years before the gulf blowout? It had a little green symbol and said "beyond petroleum". They paid out hundreds of millions to "big green", all the while getting sloppier and sloppier in their maintainance and work practices. They had a major pipeline rupture in AK, the Texas City refinery explosion, and then the big blowout. Exxon mobil has for years played around with algae farming for biofuels, Conoco Phillips and Exxon have both recieved mega bucks from the feds for experimenting with methane hydrate wells . All of these companies have paid out hundreds of millions to big green to look the other way at the the independents and are complicit with big government in keeping in place ever expanding regulations and resulting high entry costs that they don't live up to but the "other guys" must.

TGT= yes a rather pronounced case of UHI, isn't it?

Mono- look at the picture above your post-you don't need a graph to see what it means.Looks more pronounced than the recovery i called for this last spring, doesn't it?

Ed, i'm hearing from multiple sources that there is an unusual amount of rancor in the this years IPCC process. We'll see how it unfolds, but even some of the most loyal participants are hinting that this might be the last AR as the focus changes, like you said previously, to regional forecasting.
