No sane person sees any problem with asking those folks to chip in to perpetuate the very system that is allowing them to make buckets of money.

The amazing thing is that, at the height of the McCarthy era in the '50s (which reflected much the same lunatic hatred & paranoia by the right as is manifested by today's collection of greedheads and their toadies), the tax rate for the wealthiest Americans was 91%. What is the top tax rate for them these days? Where are all the jobs and prosperity promised to ordinary citizens by the champions of free trade and trickle-down economics?
Blame what you want on Obama. His presidency is far from perfect, but compared to the vicious idiot who preceded him, he is indeed a vast improvement - at least he is making an effort to improve the lot of people who were not fortunate enough to be born into a clique of wealthy and privileged thieves who now disgrace the once revered name of the United States in the eyes of the world.
Thousands of proud, patriotic Americans have, and are still losing their lives in the name of democracy. Their lives are precious. Their sacrifice should be honoured and respected - not trivialized to protect the obscene wealth of a minuscule portion of the U.S. population.
The Bush family and many of their clones are directly connected to both Sadaam Hussein & the Bin laden clan. Nevertheless, Bush Sr. once campaigned & reneged on cheap promises of a kinder, gentler America. Perhaps it is time for patriotic Americans to devote their energies to make those words a reality.
