hey there mouse and all... say, i really love that silver dollar song...
i heard it a long time back, on the old country station, and--
it was one of those things, where, each time i HEARD it, i KNEW, that i had to write a story about it...
so thus, i did a jake smith ranch story and it was a great story, hee hee, i, the author, may say so, myself... :)
well, humble, i will, though...
but, i really was so very glad, that i had heard it... as, who'd have ever thought that such a song, a ballad type, would spawn such a neat story
for my ranch series... (on head injury awareness and epilepsy) at that...
wow, i am late late late, to paint paint paint...
night to all now... :)

First things first. My favorite prayer for this Sunday.
http://www.ewtn.com/Devotionals/prayers/patrick.htm
Have a Good Lord's Day, ST.
Tim stayed out of trouble, not amazingly. Who would want to forfeit their father's regard? That would be stupid and I know of no stupid Portagee farmers around here. I mean, there's gotta be a few, but I don't know 'em.
Tim let me behind the wheel, to get the feel, but only for a few miles.
It was quite the big old deal, to let the tires squeal. It even brought me some smiles.

You can dance to this makin' your coffee, toastin' your bagel. Do it! Don't hurt yourself. Dancin' is dangerous. Dance at your own risk.
Here's today,
The last we'll see of May.
I'd like nothing better than to jump behind the wheel of that Goat and blast up to the Ditch and sit and watch the action at the Bridge, and hopefully greet Pete and Anita and Rhett, who've been lurking on the Captain. But according to Tom Evans, they have a ways to go.
Take your time. No rush. Have fun up there! :0)
More old school dancin' music.

a man of constant sorrow, the title as it stands
plain and simple that i need to get some perspective.
i was at my best at a time when i was surrounded by friends and rivals when such relationships were plentiful'
I choose my line.
the route I took in life.
i have no minions covertus folks
who want to be around my kind of show
no more, wake & bake with Jimmy
and sure no double Edges.
all the things that were, at the time i tied the knot, are that that was .
and be that as it may , Getting old svcks.
saying so helps abit and then I look and find that I have not existed for some time .
all the more reason for me to push a page or two of routes at What I called Cranberry Ledge and once was in bids to buy, but that is a mother long story. ha ah the atou phrydian! the story of trying to buy the cliff and start a climbing business is another not mother story, although she was in on the fail.
Cranberry Ledge/ Panther Ledge and the Beak the main line on the cliff that name is a give, I will just need it like a stone in my shoe to remind me of the futility of the Yo Yo.
The climbs that are in many ways very bold as the gear ends at sixty feet up and the hard climbing , the cruxes are all 20 feet or more above the last pro. some of the falls would be near fatal. I rescued more than one climber from the corners route that lures one up on a line of holds and fun revisable moves on rough featured rock. the rock goes smooth at the start of a corner that has a step to allow entrance to the stemming but is not down climbable. from the moment you stem out your left foot and grab the lay back the clock is ticking and the slick black 'crack is not a crack but a water sreak that has moments of seepage and a greasy build up when temps. are dry and hot.
As to who and when the cliff was first climbed I think it safe to point to the history amassed by John Anderson, Da Freerider, and my self . the research brought out a history of NY city 'clubs' from the 1830's on that ran stage coach trips to the area for the sport and climbs are reported in news of injuries at the cliffs. the climbs from way back were 5.4 affairs. they do follow weaknesses but at points use logs, 'stakes' to gain passage into chimneys and off top ledges.
The climbs are mixed and clearly old school, there is a line of bolts of uncertain/suspected origin (to me that is forty years,) that do not turn a 16 foot full roof that is parallel to the to the ground that is only 30 feet below, a ground fall if a thing blows and no bolts or hold at or over the lip.
It was a 'a3/4' hooking night-mare on ripples. I imagine that the first ascent was made by the mysterious Tye Neff, But neither Tye or his son Gus have surfaced so . . I also believe that the button head star drive driven into the dead horizontal roof , Hard to place! they go in straight up and the hangers are square cut and reminiscent of old Tetons WY stuff.and likely was the result of what was modern climbing in 1966.
That would be dowls , short studs that were more abuot passage than protection and often were the idea but then due to the challenge of the hard rock the enhancments were hooked across and enhanced edges to gain cracks and usable features. twelve feet right of the line of bolts
is a great fist/offwidth crack that has been the climbing target for at least three generations of climbers.
soory for the climbing content bu tt er it is all the screaming into the wind i care to do
i am sad that it is this pathetic1 if i write more and i probably will it is 'cause there is a sense in the cosmos a disturbance in the force and i think i will ask the publishers here if they want to help i am not a guide book author
yet. . .

My Wife will not let me show her paintings, even if I have had a hand in them.
she said no again??
no share from her,
she is no fan of the forum or anything that is internet driven
she is gun-shy,- Now
but not way back when - No, she was not shy when . . . . not Then,
oh well i have to live with her
so in the tines of the fork i writhe, and the love must be nurtured so I deleted the photo too.
If you can find the intersection of mountain road and the end of spring town road in rosendale. . .
There is good climbed rock along the opening part of the rail trail, The first is
On the left facing towards New Paltz
past that on the other side across from Cottage lane, is a short steep wall the last half of it is overhanging and has a flake to pockets finish out the plumb line.
There is a bit of traversing here but it is worthless in comparison to what lies beyond.
Then also there is more at the river, by the trestle, /bridge.
Both at the waters edge and slightly up hill, which may be private?
Continue up Mountain road and as the road dips, passes a 'Street' on the right, and before it rises, there is rock on the road on the right,
(Be warned There has been a piece of property for sale at the point of entry to the ridge on that 'street' for at least twenty years! Why? Do not be drawn in by the lure, also the house that sits ON
The road ? Overlooking the 'subject piece?)
(the water works is off left thru the woods past the private property that lines the road. Check the tax maps and U.S.G. Topo maps, check some history of subdivision, most of the homes used to sit on small lots, this may have changed, there was a thirteen Acre property (Schwenk? 199, I think.) that was a large parcel, the drive-way is on mountain rd on the left before you can see any rock.)
From here there is a lot of rock in every direction but the waterworks are across the road past the clutch of houses -The Bob Frestone and Dan Kuttaback (both, spelling ?? )properties, a parcel was 'split' off to a preserve board member? I think. . It is the Newer, right hand property.
These are the three houses off the road across a stream,
-This is if you are facing towards NewPaltz -
( small bridge to a parking area in front of two houses, one in front one on right, with a third (turquoise blue?) house farther back blocking view of

That's Bridwell at Swillfest and he's singing the Hokey Pokey Song.

Well, when it rains, it pours, the sky starts cryin' and the hyacinths come down like rain.
We just now listened (some of us) to Geoff Muldaur, one of the most distinctive blues singers of the modern era.
As I was listening to the last track posted, The Thrill Is Gone, the phone rang, area code 831, which turns out to be Santa Cruz, Gypsy's former place of residence.
I have one cousin there and one in the SF Peninsula, Jeff and Doug McMeans. The call was from Jeff to wish me a belated birthday.
We have not communicated since my father passed in 2012, which was at the funeral here. It was a real surprise, you bet, and it lifted my spirits.
We exchanged info about what's doin', been done, and gonna be done. He had to go though, because he is the technician for a radio program.
The Poetry Show, on KUSP-FM 88.9, Sunday nights at 9:00 pm.
I have here a link to the show, and am listening to poetry by Sholeh Wolpe, a poet from Iran who was around, I gather, during the time of the Iranian Revolution which led to Ayatollah Khomeini and his Islamic State.
Sholeh reads from Keeping Time with Blue Hyacinths (2013), collected poems.
It begins about 23:00 in. There is one other poem a bit earlier in this program from her collection called Rooftops of Tehran (2008).
http://blogs.kusp.org/poetryshow/
This is some grim history, including the capture of the American hostages from the US Embassy, and the terror spread by the Ayatollah's righteous bullies.
The lady poet is presently translating Iranian poems as well as writing her own.
Jeff and myself hung out and Mike, my older bro hung around with Doug whenever we visited Redding, where they lived, with their late sister Lynne, with my Grandmother May in the house across from the Union Ice Plant and right next to the RR tracks.
Their mother, Dorathy, was a sweetie, a hairdresser like my other grandmother Ora Belle. She passed away the same week as my late wife Liz, and I could not attend the funeral in Redding, just as I could not attend Lynne's funeral last year. Somehow, I inherited her Scrabble board, which was her regular game with a friend, much like my games with my late friend Zoe Bishop.
Getting back to Jeff, he's a priceless individual and that's all I'm gonna say right now. I have to bake the trout which Lenna Lu left me last week.
Bone apetit.

Ignoring "The Stopper", we shall proceed and Never Stop, like Jagger.
Never, never, never stop.
Like the grandfather clock, that never stopped until the old man died.
Flame on!
With a side of potato salad and a nice Brisk Iced Tea.
Fresh out of fava beans and chianti and butter.
Substituted mayonnaise and lemon pepper goo to fill the body cavity and spread on the upside of each trout which serves to keep some moisture in the fish. Laid on a bed of chopped onion, celery, and parsley flakes with Pam coating on the casserole dish.
About twenty-five minutes at 350 degrees with two minutes broil time.

Patrick Hurley is a friend from my two years at Our Lady of Mercy HS. We played JV baseball together. Though not very good, we beat Mariposa's JV team, at least. He's now one of my FB friends and was jazzed about his new logo.
I like it a whole lot.
We should have a Flames logo contest with a decent prize from the Advice and Cheese Shop.
