I was going to post this in the "Odd Photos" thread but since we're trying to get to 1000 here I'll contribute more of my joyful obnoxious bliss. :-) This is my dear friend Rebecca and I starting a route at the gym. The first hold was about 12' up.
Awesome Jaystone! You don't have to say it but I can tell that you agree, parenting is fun!

Happy to oblige. I love every minute of being dad....and it gets better and better.
In all honesty, I'm concerned he'll put me to shame on the snow within the next two years.
Last Sunday after skiing we headed up wright's lake road to finish a book report due Monday. When finished, he began bouldering on the outcroppings. As I lay basking in the sun the lad exclaims, "Oooooo, I love the smell of granite! It's been way too long."
I almost wet myself laughing.

This thread is very cool, and I wish to congratulate Piquaclimber for giving the climbing world a Coke! I've known a number of folks on this thread through the years, and it's so cool to see where they are now, what they look like, and so on. Thanks, Piqua!
Here's a shot from the way-back machine (late winter--79?) when my buddy, Dave Hersey, and I, climbed a peak just to the east of San Jacinto, then skied down, climbed up San Jac, then skied down it as well. We'd taken the Tram from Palm Springs, so when we tumbled down the west side of the mountain into Idyllwild, we had no wheels waiting for us. Somewhere below Humber Park, we stuck out our thumbs, and the first car to come along--this huge Mercedes sedan--pulled right over and offered us a lift into town. Turns out it was this guy, Paul Runge--National League umpire--and his family. The sedan was so huge that it fit Paul, his wife, his two kids, his mother-in-law, Dave and me, and all our gear--and we weren't cramped. We went out to Michelli's (I miss that place) together for dinner, and they were very cool. They gave us their home phone number, and offered us tickets to any baseball game anywhere in the country, at any time. We were really appreciative of that, but neither one of us cared squat about baseball. Still...cool of them! Good times.

Chiloe,
That rock looks almost exactly like the rock in Eldorado Canyon, which is one of my favorite places. I'm going to have to plan a trip to Sweden sometime and check it out.

My contribution to the quest for 1,000 posts:
This is taken in Bettles, Alaska,
while we were waiting for the weather to improve so our floatplane (DeHavilland Beaver) could fly us out. We were headed for The Arrigetch, and we had several weather delays. Photo taken in the hangar where we were sorting and packing gear. Summer 2006. Photo credit (top) to Misha Logvinov Photography

Gary,
We were headed to the SE Arete from the west side, got lost (didn't go far enough right on Lion's), and ended up doing the punter original route for fear of running out of time.
Now that I know the descent, I'm looking forward to getting back there and doing some of the long routes.
Seems I'm always getting lost out there. We went to do Finger Rock and found out that, oddly enough, Finger Rock Trail does not go to Finger Rock.
We have family in Tucson, so I'm down there often.
