*Trump’s ratings with Evangelicals have actually soared since the Stormy Daniels story came out—from 61 to 78 % approval. The reason for this is simple. One of the pillars of Evangelical Christianity is the perception that Evangelicals are “outcasts” standing bravely against the evil forces of the world. This is a feature of the cult, not a bug, because it spawns a group persecution complex that solidifies their community. As the authors point out, “religious outsiders have much to gain from boundary maintenance, often courting outcast status or even persecution to rally the faithful. “

*So Trump’s sexual antics and his sociopathic insouciance when confronted with them mesh perfectly with the Evangelical mindset. His behavior conjures up sentiments not of revulsion, but of common cause. He’s an “outcast” that provides the Evangelical community a foil against which it can assert its discrete identity. Any criticism of Trump just reinforces this mindset. And most importantly, his abusive attitudes towards women reinforce the patriarchy and exploitation of women that have girded much of the entire Evangelical scheme from the get-go:

doofus and foo’. Good point.

And just another data point in our doofus and foo’ blaming ways. If we weren’t so busy constructing our mental models of what’s wrong with other people, compared to what’s right in ourselves, we might not be experiencing the belief-warping tribal political environment that we have created.

Do I detect disappointment that WWIII hasn’t started?

Do I detect disillusionment with the liberal democracies’ assertion of their principles?

If Islamic rebels in British Columbia were launching missiles towards Seattle would y’all expect
us to sit on our hands?

I guess this means Putin will finally be releasing that hotel hooker video you all have been claiming he has??

Why would he? Putin wouldn’t have anything to gain by it.

As far as collusion goes, if you have ever played the board game Risk, you make alliances (call it collusion perhaps) for your benefit, as does your ally, but when push comes to shove, it becomes knives in back time, but only if it benefits the stabber. Perhaps this is not the best analogy for explaining why Putin hasn’t turned on Trump yet, but I think it illustrates that even though people can collude with one another, it doesn’t make them pals.

Merkel didn't sign onto it.

10b4me, don’t tell him that, he knows everything.

I would bet not too many will read [quote Jim Brennan's article quote] So in summary:

This is now understood to be a general prohibition on chemical weapons and biological weapons, but has nothing to say about production, storage or transfer. Later treaties did cover these aspects — the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) and the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).

For voracious readers put your research on which countries violate the 1972 and 1993 accords here:

Almost a much as Trump’s parade will cost.

Only if you also figure in the government's costs for agents, investigators, prosecutors and judges.

Trump Parade ===> Perp Walk

Dorothy Don can click his heels together as many times as he likes, but he's not going home anytime soon. His dog Toto's papers have been seized by the Wicked Witch of the Southern District Court of New York, and the flying monkey squad will be coming after Toto, Trump and the rest very soon.

One day, Trump will wake up in a Federal dungeon, saying:

"I had the strangest dream. I was in a land where I was the biggest person, and all the little people worshiped me. And there was a fairy princess who looked just like Ivanka. And I had three friends who did whatever I told them to do. And we followed a yellow brick road that was made of solid gold. Really, really beautiful. So nice. The best road, ever.

But, then things got really ugly for me. It was so unfair. I was captured and taken to a domed building on a hill, and was put into a chamber.

"But, now I realize that I have everything I ever needed, right here. I have a bed, food, and all my new friends. I never had to be anywhere else to be happy. And I'm not going to leave here ever, ever again. Oh, Con Boss Em, there's no place like home."

WVB is old enough to remember Monty Python, but I guess they didn't pipe the BBC channel into the Valley back then. Now THAT was some dumb-ass nonsense. And it was funny as hell, and skewered some skewer-deserving aspects of British society.

It's supposed to be dumber and dumber. The dumber and dumber is what makes it great. If it wasn't dumber and dumber, people would be crying instead of laughing.

Comedy is a polite way of showing one's teeth.

How would you define "gas"? What about particulate matter dispersed within the atmosphere? How small must the particles be, in order to constitute a "gas", rather than "dust"?

Most physicists and physicians would agree that radioactive particulate matter dispersed by a nuclear explosion ("fallout") is poisonous.

Thank God we have the Geneva Accords to restrain Floppy Don from lighting off the Mother of all Distractions.

Really?

California colleges consistently rank among the most difficult to get into, because the education they provide is so desirable. Even a podunk Cali college, Harvey Mudd, is in the top ten, nationwide, for percentage of rejected applicants. I think four of the other nine are also in Cali, with Stanford being #2 behind #1 Harvard.

Clearly, the Cali education system lends itself well to the majority opinions expressed in this thread.

Ummmm, if you say so. History curriculum notwithstanding? Could be a K-12 issue, I suppose.

More like open eyes, common sense, a sense of fairness, a clear understanding of the constitution, and a heart and mind free of bigotry and hate.
