Hooblie consistently gives good weight on the cool rock outcrops topic. That being said, just the maid's photo at the top of this pag just blows me away!

Now for a seasonal contribution:

And for those folks longing for warmer climes:

MrE actually took that photo (page top) at the New River Gorge last fall. I did a little creative editing.

Just a wild dramatic stripe in the sandstone we found hiking around.

Nick's snow-shadows are pretty crazy. What are those- fence post tops? I always like a hard shadow on snow or sand.

Edit @ Reilly:

LINE ON GREY...I'll give you my professional artist evaluation:

Reilly's image evokes trepidation with a hint of eroticism. The longer it is studied, the more tangible the feelings of regret and nostalgia become. The line is neither the object of objecthood nor the art-object. It is rather the oblique object of intention.

2nd Edit for Gnome: (I'm on a roll)

My comments on Gnome's Groundbreaking set of photos:

7 FACES OF MADNESS

Gnome's work fuses chaos with order, with lines and shapes. Closer inspection gradually reveals that a set of rules governs the repetition. Thus, the artist challenges the viewer to explore the rules encoded in the subconscious that shape our aesthetics, to consider why we find tension in the juxtaposition of similarity.

Rather than any implied meaning or message, the repetitive nature of these photos encourages the viewer to consider the visual qualities of the stone - the composition, surfaces, textures and the relationship of depicted space to line and form. In simplicity, art becomes more direct and incisive in its dissection of the human mind, a more lucent mirror of our collective subconscious.

PS: sometimes a hole is just a hole ;)

Note: there is no implied message or inherent meaning in this image.
Sometimes sunlit glass is just that and nothing more.

Positively laden with hidden meaning, innuendo, and hipness.
Layers of it. (Geology joke for hooblie.)
