Oh I disagree Howard, only those who resist change find it
hard to deal with it.
Yes, it is only speculation regarding what a McCain/Barbie
administration would look like right now.
However, no doubt there would be total agreement between McCain
and his fellow Republicans in Congress that the government that
actually governs least, governs best.
And that means it is fair to say that there would have been
NO signing of the Lilly Fair Pay Act, and NO expansion of the
poor children's Medicaid program, and NO discussion of any kind
about doing anything at all about our health care problems.
We already know the above because NONE of these things were
even discussed during the entire 8 years of the Shrub era.
Given the long history of doing nothing, it is also fair to
speculate that any "stimulus" bill, if any, would have been
on a much smaller, greatly watered down scale.
The GOP, the do nothing party. Nothing but more tax cuts
for the richest Americans and pissing away 1.5 trillion in
futile, irresponsible, and naive attempts at nation building.
And they wonder why they can't win elections anywhere but the bible belt. Duh......

I'm betting the tag-team of Apogee and Norton account for at least a hundred combined posts today.
They were close yesterday.

Last I checked on ebay, lunch will cost at least $40,000. Don't know what the latest bid is: ever since looking at it, my e-bay home page is covered with ads for Palin memorabilia.

You have to love the wacko left when they try and advance the position that they are 4 square against "Racism" but child trafficking in the sex trade industry is really no big deal.

Yes Howard, you are right about Caribou.
She Cut and Ran.
The lure of big money was more important than even finishing her
term of governor as the citizens elected, and expected her to do.
Talking about putting self interest ahead of public obligation.
As far as you saying she has a future on the national stage,
well I really, sincerely hope the GOP runs her again some day.
She will be beaten like a drum, just like she destroyed any
chance McCain had with independents and swing voters in November.
But it wasn't Barbie's fault, it was McCain's, he did NOT VET HER.

There isn't a "pure" Republican in the country who privately
wants to see Obama succeed at anything.
They oppose, and vote against, everything he proposes.
The official leader of the Republican Party, Rush Limbaugh,
has publicly stated he wants to see Obama "fail" as President.
And NO Republican has come out to denounce what Rush OR the
extreme right wing spews forth. They just kiss their ass.
But, they got the all important old white people vote.
Keep on losing elections, right in to oblivion.

Cool. ANOTHER well crafted thought-out proposal from the Democrats!
And how have the republicans responeded?
With a rigorous and sound proposal of their own?
Nope.
They act like the fat kid in the candy aisle sitting on the floor not budging until his mommy buys him what he wants.
Wankers.

from an earlier post from HighDesertDJ:
Let's be honest here. You guys don't WANT to like Obama, so you don't and you look for every reason not to. Why don't you stop pretending like you are doing anything other than looking for reasons to reinforce the beliefs that you WANT to have. There are lots of reasonable and intelligent criticisms of Obama and choices he has made or ways that he has done things, but those are never raised here. It's just the same old echo chamber of ideological claptrap where anything that Obama does has to be wrong simply because he's OBAMA, not because it actually makes any sense.
Try being authentic for once and just say "I have decided to not like Obama and so I will prejudge anything that he does or has done." At least it will be honest for a change.

"It's just the same old echo chamber of ideological claptrap where anything that Obama does has to be wrong simply because he's OBAMA..."
That's completely true, and while WeirdLois has been called on this repeatedly, the same is absolutely true of the rest of the GOP droids: cchopper, TGT, suap, Bamm, etc.
They might try and say the same thing about Dems and Repug POTUS's, but I hope they aren't dumb enough to use Shrub as their example. That idjut is nearly as universally despised and dismissed as Nixon by most (rational) members of both parties.

"...Obama made a great decision the other day, taking out the Al-Queda terrorist, now he needs to send in a real force to clean up Somalia..."
Oh clearly, our highest priority should be starting yet another war in some far off country. Why is this the only idea that Republicans have?

TGT- if you seriously believe that almost half of doctors would consider quitting due to overhaul you are truly the idiot that we all pretend you are. For starters, nearly all doctors will make MORE money under an overhaul because of tort reform and actually getting reimbursed for all that free care they hand out. The only people who might make less money are high end specialists who rack up huge Medicare bills by running tests over and over and over when they aren't necessarily useful. More importantly, most doctors are doctors because they care about PEOPLE and they understand that access to healthcare is vitally important.
Do you actually know many doctors TGT? The "NPR poll" you talk about was actually done by the New England Journal of Medicine....not exactly a lightweight when it comes to either research or doctors. The IBD poll was a voluntary response poll done from an unknown sample group. I can promise you that not a single doctor in my family would have taken the time to even open mail from IBD, much less fill it out and mail it back. The NEJM methodology is well lain out here: http://healthcarereform.nejm.org/?p=1785&query=home. They also rely on a lengthy mail poll but I'm willing to bet more people from all viewpoints would take the time to do it. All things considered I doubt either poll is dead on, but it's hard not to see the NEJM poll as significantly more credible.
All polls aside, I can promise you that the more money a doctor makes, the more resistant they will be to reform for obvious reasons.

In the realm of more actual real life news, health care costs (and insurance rates) in Arizona went up 3 times faster than wages on the last 10 years.
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/2009/09/16/20090916healthinsurance0916.html
The obvious solution is to do nothing. The Almighty Free Market has obviously decided that middle class people are inefficient and should be killed off. Hopefully my family will at least be made into Soyalent Green and fed to veal lambs for Fatty to dine upon. At least then we will be doing our part to contribute to society an pay the price for being mortal. Palin/Romney 2012!!

Fatty said. "Obama made a great decision the other day, taking out the Al-Queda terrorist, now he needs to send in a real force to clean up Somalia. But, he would need to say, "I don't care about civilian deaths", because they hide behind the women.
The evil one"
Remember that one time when Clinton tried to prevent Somalia from becoming a failed state and the Republican were super supportive and honest about the whole thing? Oh wait no that was one of the times that they openly criticized the President while troops were in harm's way. Welp.
