Taken from page one of the old Flames thread, October 2012.

Tempus fugit.

I began this thread with one idea, to chronicle the Flames. Others lend their light on the path. Plato's cave is no comparison. It's confined. The climber, as opposed to the benighted spelunker, who will never see the moon eclipse from a Colubmia Icefield peak, nor a sunrise from a portaledge...

I never did finish that sentence, I see now. I'm so mortified. All those lights on the path, too.

THANKS A LOT!

The Old Tree

There was an old tree
It was calling to me
"Old man come and see
Old man please visit me"

It frightened me so
I kept a mean space
And stayed far away
Hiding my face

But it crept in my dreams
And it haunted my days
So I thought to myself
I could will it away

But the tree was relentless
It's spirit would haunt
Beseeching ever so
What did it want?

So I mustered the courage
And came to it's side
But the tree was wounded
With a cavity inside

"Please cut me down
Fell me now please
Take all my wood
I have a disease"

I woke up in a sweat
From a nightmare it seems
Of spirits that moved me
And of talking old trees

So I went to that place
Where the wood nymph had cried
I crawled into it's old trunk
And that's where I died

So if ever you're walking
Through the forested wood
And hear whispering voices
Be cautious you should

And wait 'till your mind
And your conscious are clear
If you value your sanity
And hold it dear

For whispering voices
And talking old trees
Mean something's awry
Off by several degrees

Or maybe you're moved
By a different tune
Like a minstrel who plays
To the light of the moon

Who forever throws notes
At the long autumn night
Playing every sad riff
'Till the breaking of light

For the voice of the muse
Is a difficult curse
Not easy to quell
Shoo away or disperse

And calls us to work
At the oddest of hours
By the strangest of voices
And the strongest of powers

Now if you are touched
By the voices of trees
Fly away fly away
Or get down on your knees

Or confront it and face
Those bewildering things
And sing out your heart
Like a bird on the wing

Or forever be haunted
By the spirit of those
You must give voice to speak
Wherever they go

There was an old tree
It was calling to me
It's my voice and my spirit
It occurs now to me

For there was an old tree
That was calling to me
""Go to sleep now old man
It's only you, you see?"

The tif and bmp files have more information and thus more detail.

If you open the original in say Paint of Windows Photo Viewer you will see this.

Obviously you won't see it here, due to what was mentioned above. This after all is a png. Turtles all the way down, eh?

Back on the automotive front...

An extremely rare double padiddle sighting.

You won't see this on GMA.

Beemer #1 was across the street from Middle Earth when I left this a.m. to get my blood tested (it's fine).Beemer #2 was in its place when I returned.

Speaking of one of the Golden old Silverback Stahlbro another one of the stars of the thread the treads a cool ride.

I troubled over the last post on the thread linked below.
The last post to the thread was a unicycle picture.
The snap is reported to be from a site called -yourbikehatesyou- I did not check that,
I usually do.
So the link goes to post 180 of 182, show your bike thread

I like to look into some of the links that get off-handed mention.
This time I was caught up looking at three or four things, then back to here.

I was trying to get the Bob Dylan song with the line about the flight of the Nightingale set up,
and then,

The Clint thread referencing zB, led to need to look there, then stop looking to that post here.

that, then the bikes
Here and as you see I'm not going to get to the next post.

SLR was BLATANT about it, too. I really like that guy.

I still have to read about half the titles that I purchased from Harry about three years ago.

And speaking of books, The Bartender's Tale by iDoig is missing. I had it with me yesterday afternoon when out doing errands.

Must have left it in a shopping basket at the Grocery Outlet. Called them, they checked, did not find.

I'm just over half way thru, so this means finding it in the library.

No biggie, just gotta wait to see how things come out in Gros Ventre, MT.

Meanwhile, in old news in Jamestown.

Win, placer show, it's a "rare" find. We're talking big collector bucks for a nugget over a melted-down lump.

Star Trek launches its run with "Man Trap," in which the Mussy Galaxy and the Klingons unite to show the Federation their asses.

Kirk and company beam themselves silly, the Fish really DOES show his butt, and the Klingons are left with egg on their faces, improving their looks.
