I can't stand Cruz (as much as Trump), but it appears he was trying to stand by some kind of principles, as opposed to the ballcuppers who ripped Trump to shreds in the primaries, then later say 'he's a nice guy- vote for him!'.
Of course, this was entirely for his own 2020 interests, which makes him as slimy as he seems to be.

probably the first and last time i'll be able to say the following: i just gained the tiniest modicum of respect for ted cruz...
unlike some of the rest of the grovelling man whores [specifically, the lucifer invoking neuroseurgeon and the sword swallower from new jersey] when the drumpfmeister insulted cruz's wife's looks, linked his father to the jfk assassination, and then went onto the rest of the garden variety [for trump] insults and lies regarding cruz specifically, well amazingly enough... cruz didn't forget.
what a thing of beauty that non-endorsement was.
while i'm sure it was cold and calculated, that doesn't take away from the cunning and savagery that that took for him to pull off attaining one of the most coveted speaking slots...
get up...
and then not endorse.
damn.

Somehow I missed the Republican position on this issue during the "Make America Safe" section:

It’s a historic photo of two men of color. For this reason I never really paid attention to the other man, white, like me, motionless on the second step of the medal podium. I considered him as a random presence, an extra in Carlos and Smith’s moment, or a kind of intruder. Actually, I even thought that that guy – who seemed to be just a simpering Englishman – represented, in his icy immobility, the will to resist the change that Smith and Carlos were invoking in their silent protest. But I was wrong.
Notice the badge on him.....

The Empire State Building is owned by a realty trust owned by the Helmsley and Malkin families, both richer than Trump.
He owned a small share of the building from about 1994 to 2004 and was apparently a real Pita until they bought him out.
The largest shareholder of Disney is the Steve Jobs estate.

Our immigration laws have almost always favored immigrants from European countries over others, especially those from our Latin neighbors.
*edit* - Just saw John's excellent post rebutting this. Thanks for sharing your story John.
A black man was shot by police in Miami while literally laying on the ground with his hands in the air shouting "I am a caregiver for this autistic man. He has a toy truck." The police continued to shout at the 22 year old autistic man to lay down and when he didn't, one of them shot 3 times hitting the caregiver in the leg. Luckily, he was not fatally injured. When the victim asked why the cop shot him the answer was "I don't know."
Cruz refused to endorse Trump during his prime time convention speech last night which is amaaaaazing.
As hundreds of delegates chanted “Vote for Trump!” and “Say it!” Mr. Cruz tried to dismiss the outburst as “enthusiasm of the New York delegation” — only to have Mr. Trump himself suddenly appear in the back of the convention hall. Virtually every head in the room seemed to turn from Mr. Cruz to Mr. Trump, who was stone-faced and clearly angry as he egged on delegates by pumping his fist.
Mr. Cruz was all but drowned out as he asked for God’s blessing on the country and left the stage, while security personnel escorted his wife, Heidi, out of the hall. One delegate yelled “Goldman Sachs!” at her — a reference to the company that has employed her, a job that Mr. Trump attacked during the primaries.
A short while later, Mr. Cruz faced insults as he made his way down a corridor — one woman yelled “Traitor!” When he tried to enter the convention suite of the Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, he was turned away.
