what liberalism hath wrought:
"Not only have diversity sinecures been protected from budget cuts, their numbers are actually growing. The University of California at San Diego, for example, is creating a new full-time "vice chancellor for equity, diversity, and inclusion." This position would augment UC San Diego's already massive diversity apparatus, which includes the Chancellor's Diversity Office, the associate vice chancellor for faculty equity, the assistant vice chancellor for diversity, the faculty equity advisors, the graduate diversity coordinators, the staff diversity liaison, the undergraduate student diversity liaison, the graduate student diversity liaison, the chief diversity officer, the director of development for diversity initiatives, the Office of Academic Diversity and Equal Opportunity, the Committee on Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Issues, the Committee on the Status of Women, the Campus Council on Climate, Culture and Inclusion, the Diversity Council, and the directors of the Cross-Cultural Center, the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center, and the Women's Center."

E-mails Show Obama Effort to Blackball Fox
By Paul Bedard
It's not a secret that the Obama White House and media outlets like Fox News have been at odds over the past two years, but new White House E-mails revealed today show how the Fox-administration relationship foundered back in 2009.
Released by watchdog Judicial Watch, the E-mails suggest a bias against Fox News as a whole and one of its anchors, Bret Baier, specifically. "He's a lunatic," says one of the White House E-mails.
[See the month's best editorial cartoons.]
The E-mails are from a period in October 2009 when Treasury's pay czar, Kenneth Feinberg, was hotly sought after by the media. Fox claimed that it was barred from talking to him, a claim denied by the administration. Fox eventually got its interview. The E-mails seem to suggest that former Fox White House correspondent Major Garrett smoothed over the issue.
But the E-mails detail efforts to snub Fox during the episode. Judicial Watch offered these examples:
—"According to one October 22, 2009, email exchange between Dag Vega, Director of Broadcast Media on the White House staff, to Jenni LeCompte, then-Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs in the Treasury Department, Vega informs LeCompte that '...we'd prefer if you skip Fox please.'"
—"Regarding general anti-FNC bias within the Obama White House in an October 23, 2009, email exchange between Jennifer Psaki, Deputy White House Communications Director and LeCompte, Psaki writes, 'I am putting some dead fish in the fox cubby – just cause'."
--"In an email on the night of October 22, 2009, commenting on a report by Fox News Channel anchor Bret Baier noting the exclusion of the network from the pool, Psaki writes to Compte and fellow White House colleagues, '...brett baier just did a stupid piece on it — but he is a lunatic".'"
—"Deputy White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest bluntly described the White House's position on Fox News Channel in an October 23, 2009, email to LeCompte: 'We've demonstrated our willingness and ability to exclude Fox News from significant interviews…'"
"These documents show there is a pervasive anti-Fox bias in the Obama White House," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Many Obama supporters and Democrats feel that Fox hasn't been fair to the administration, though most of those complaints are about the evening hosts, not the news staff. Obama supporter Media Matters has a Web site devoted to some of Fox's Obama coverage called DropFox.com.

E-mails Show Obama Effort to Blackball Fox
By Paul Bedard
Bookworm, what is sad and pathetic, is that what your "headline" states, is contradicted by what your text actually shows.
There is NOTHING in anything that shows "an Obama Effort" to do ANYTHING.
So, once again, you have documented beautifully an effort by the right to smear the President through lies, deceit, and wholly made-up rumor.

And why not outright lie?
Remember last summer's "death panels", and "going to jail"?
Selling fear through deliberate lies is very effective, given the intellect and political interest of the average American who cannot even state the names of their US Senators.

Jesus...The Rupert Murdock Fox empire is being caught red-handed hacking into politicians voice mails in England and probably worldwideand more and somebody wants to complain that Obama doesn't treat them equally!
They don't cover equally.
And the same people that call wikileaks treason for their efforts to reveal the truth, have no issues with Fox news breaking into your information.

Here is something to consider:
The Republicans are absolutely crazy about the national debt, and how it is being passed on to our heirs, and how it is being run up by democrats.
However, how short the memory is!
If we go back a few short years, when Bill Clinton was President and there was a Democratic administration, we had a budget surplus, with surpluses projected into the future, with the debt starting to be paid down for the first time in decades!
Then the administration changed to a Republican one, and what happened?
Instead of continuing to pay down the debt as had been scheduled, the Repubs LOOTED the treasury to LINE THEIR POCKETS. They set it up so that a pittance was directed to the middle class, while BAGS OF MONEY went to the rich, and would continue to do so, EVEN WHEN HUGE HUGE DEFICITS DEVELOPED!
When there was a surplus, they said, give it back to taxpayers INSTEAD OF PAYING DOWN THE DEBT, but when there was a deficit, they said, KEEP BORROWING AND GIVING IT TO RICH PEOPLE!
What kind of idiot economic theory is that?
So, when you see the smug posts by folks like Donald, remember that he is the real Communist, stealing from the kids, stealing from America, borrowing to give to the rich, stealing our future, morgaging America to China.

I'm not sure which your delusion is...that you actually believe this stuff or that you believe you are successfully trolling people with it. Either way it seems kind of pathetic. Bush skipped talking to certain news agencies all the time. If you asked him a tough question he would literally just stop calling on you in the future and the press secretary would shut you out. He also made people sign an oath of loyalty to enter any of his "public town halls." Bush was a liberal then I guess? If you don't know that politicians controlling their message and working the media is standard practice then you're just dumb.
I can see how the partisan chum business is booming. Make a website. Throw up some ads. Then cherry pick whatever information taken out of context that the partisan idiots of the world will gleefully grab on to as reinforcement of their already held beliefs and they will paste it across the internet like they just found the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Sarah Palin Movie Debuts to Empty Theater in Orange County
By Conor Friedersdorf
"Why aren't you seeing Harry Potter?" an usher said to the reporter sitting alone in the audience
When the clock struck 12:01 am today, AMC theaters in select cities were permitted to start showing "The Undefeated," a feature length documentary about Sarah Palin. As it happens, I'm visiting my parents in Orange County, Calif., home to one of just 10 theaters where the film is being rolled out. Watching it didn't interest me so much as going to interview folks who decided to attend. I figured I'd meet some nice people, perhaps run into someone who knows my grandparents, press five or six Palin fans on why they like her, and convey their worldview. It's my experience that the grassroots doesn't fit the caricature of its champions or its detractors.
In the parking lot of The Block, an outdoor mall in the City of Orange, I worried that arriving 45 minutes early was cutting it too close: it took 20 minutes to find parking, and folks were lining up scores deep outside the theater box office. Our airport is named after John Wayne. Ronald Reagan remains a hero to many. Even Richard Nixon's association with this place is treated as a point of pride. When I was growing up here, a local hotel broadcast the Rush Limbaugh program everyday in its restaurant. I should've known there'd be a big turnout, I thought.
As I approached, however, I realized that most people present were dressed in costume. The crowd was either showing ironic solidarity with Christine O'Donnell, the tea party candidate who is not a witch, or else everyone was there to see the Harry Potter movie playing on a majority of the theater's 30 screens. Without any way of telling Palin moviegoers from Potter fans dressed up like muggles, I'd have to pay, go to the assigned theater, and look for interviewees.
I hurried through the teenage hordes, bypassed a concession stand that sold 1,020 calories of soda for $5.25, and entered theater number 30, hoping I'd have ample time before the previews to talk to some people. But inside, the theater was empty. I sat there alone for 20 minutes, at which point an usher stuck his head in the door, gave me a quizzical smile, and said, "How come you're not watching Harry Potter?" Then he left me by myself again, and without any good answer.
It isn't strictly accurate to say that I sat through the whole movie alone. Just as the previews started, two young women walked in giggling together and took seats three rows behind me. Afraid that they'd ruined the only story I had at that point -- What If Sarah Palin Starred in a Movie and No One Showed Up? -- I hoped they'd at least oblige me with an interview, and so they did.
Jamie Watkins, 22, is a Missouri native, which qualifies her as a real American. She only recently moved to Southern California, and her little sister, Jessie, age 18, was visiting for the first time.
"So, um, what made you come out here tonight?"
"We're going to Disneyland tomorrow," Jamie said, "but she just got here, so we decided we should go out."
"We looked online for the latest movie playing," Jessie added. "But all the Harry Potters were sold out, and then we saw 'The Undeafeated.' We don't even actually know what we're seeing."
"Well welcome to California," I said. "You're about to see a documentary about Sarah Palin."
"Oh, really?" they said, and started giggling again. I think they were expecting an action flick. When I returned to my seat, I thought maybe I'd talk to them after the movie, and get the perspective of two people who went in with no expectations. But they only lasted 20 minutes before walking out.
After that, it is strictly accurate to say that the theater was empty, except for me. On screen there were clips of a younger Sarah Palin helping to reform Alaskan governance. "In politics, you're either eating well or sleeping well," she said. I jotted this down: "And which of those are you doing now?"
Shortly before the end of the film, a young couple entered, walked to the back row, started making out, then interrupted their session and left (spoiler alert) as Andrew Breitbart, who made one of several guest appearances, started talking about eunuchs. Then I was alone again, working. Instead of researching civil liberties violations, or the war in Libya, or the contest to elect the next president of the United States, I was both a journalist and the only member of the public willfully paying attention to Sarah Palin, as if standing in for the pathologies of my profession.
Afterward, I found a theater manager, told him I was a reporter, and asked if he could give me numbers about ticket sales. "Did anyone pay and not show up?" He said that they'd sold out all the Harry Potter movies until 2 a.m., and that all 5,000 seats looked full. "No," I said, "I saw the Sarah Palin movie. Do you know the figures for that one?"
"Oh," he said, "I can't release sales figures."
"In hindsight, do you wish you'd had one more screen showing Harry Potter?"
He had no comment.

Glad that I subscribe to The Atlantic. An issue or two ago, they had a fairly positive article on Palin's start in town and state politics, essentially as someone challenging and to some extent cleaning up a very corrupt establishment. Some time ago, mind. Still not someone I'd ever vote for, and far from fit for any high office, but useful information.

London is pretty F'd up but things are great here in the old US of A , the land of oppurtunity where a dip-shit like Sarah Palin is considered Presidential material...Murdoch could make more bucks hacking into the potential Repub presidential candidates for comedy relief and contrived policies that don't work....but since he hasn't , i advise the repub voters to watch American Chopper for their daily dose of reality...

You're getting delusional. Clinton was lucky about the doo.com boom and bust
So by that reasoning the recession is just a streak of bad luck for Obama, and has nothing to do with he and his administrations methods of governing that you so criticize.

How so? If you really new the people you say you know, you would not write such ignorant things, unless of course you followed with,
"to show the American people that we were going to respond somewhere"
in which case you would be right.

Iraq was a foorly preformed experiment, how about those dollars being wasted on Obama's Libya????
Wow, I agree with you. We should never have invaded Iraq and wasted tens of thousands of lives and trillions of dollars. Libya is also a farce.
fattrad wrote:
No, it's SS and Medicare that will sink us
How so? Just pull the US out its three wars, cut the unnecessary fat in the Defense budget (let's be conservative and say 1/3 of the defense budget) and bring taxes back to Clinton levels and we should be able to weather the recession just fine.
