Correction to the above: it was not Weaver's "buddy" but his SON, who was subsequently killed by Federal agents. Weaver's wife Vicky was also shot and killed by Lon Horiuchi, an FBI sbiper.

The "news article" was "sanitized" somewhat.
Right. Well, they can't all be as fair and balanced as Fux News.

For all he knew at the time the pilot spilled hot coffee in his lap and and dropped the stick
Stick? That's silly. Everyone knows helichopters are flown with steering wheels... the internet says so.

Biggest difference between the Dann and Bundy case (because I'm bored and sick of seeing chuff post the same crap over and over and over)...
The Shoshone actually owned the land at one point.
The Bundy's NEVER owned the land they were using... NEVER EVER.
Two very different situations. Why didn't the Militia come to protect the Danns? Not white enough to qualify for Militia protection?

Mr. Cross was in addition to being one of the largest ranchers in Wyoming, happened to be the Speaker of the Wyoming Legislature and was very well connected politically. To deal with the BLM he finally called Bob Dole, at that time Senate majority leader. Mr. Cross informed the BLM that if they ever did something that stupid again he would shoot them. Fast forward a day or 2; the FBI showed up and arrested Mr. Cross What? The FBI had the temerity to arrest poor ole victim Cross for threatening the life of a Federal agent?
So to "deal with the BLM" he called on his buddy the US Senate majority leader?
good ole political cronyism trumps law and order every time. Don't go messing with one of the biggest cattle ranchers in Wyoming is all I get from this.

God bless America. Bye bye SoCal, AZ, NM, and Texas...

Yeah, I'd be pissed too if someone shot my dog. I sure has he** wouldn't be stupid enough to then kill an FBI agent.
It was in the woods and the two brothers were together. They were both fair targets.
SON not "buddy" correction noted. You will also note that I said the Feds really f**ed it up.
Ruby Ridge and Waco are tragic examples what happens when people think they can openly defy the Law. The Weavers were armed and ready to confront the Feds. Waco may or may not have been deliberate suicide/mass murder.
Violence was avoided at Bunkerville for which I am glad. I'm not entirely sure this will turn out to be a good thing in the long run.

I thought the Indians didn't believe in land ownership.
Were the Shoshone different? Did they have a system of property rights?

Bruce-
I can understand why you would question Rory's actions, but after being out in the boonies on horseback for 3 days, hot, sore, tired as hell, he overreacted a bit. My approach would have been less confrontational. As a pilot myself, there's no way it was "coffee spilled in the lap." One simply does not operate at low altitude in a Bell Jet Ranger with a coffee cup in the hand, it takes both hands to fly one in low altitude turbulence, and one simply cannot tolerate that sort of distraction. A helo requires complete attention to 3 axes of control compared to fixed wings' 2. I don't fly helos.

HT-
I was simply correcting the information posted to a "reality check." The two agents were not FBI, either; U.S. Marshal's Service, not wearing anything but camo, nothing to identify them as LEOs. Just shot a dog on private posted property, and were armed. That's why the Weavers were acquitted in a Court of Law. The incident was so blatant at the time that the #1 Criminal Defense attorney in the country took their case pro bono. Gerry Spence was outraged. The State of Idaho subsequently attempted prosecution of the FBI sniper who killed Vicky Weaver while nursing her infant daughter.

Ah, now I see. Big Government selling off government land to Big Money... all reported by Fux at Big News. The only thing left to do is show up armed to the hilt and defend government land from the government. Got it... genius!
Buy all the guns and ammo you can before Obama takes them away. Threaten federal agents with violence every chance you get. Stand up for your rights and don't be afraid to resist violently.
God bless America!
I'm almost willing to vote Repugnikunt so you anarchist idiots will STFU for 4 years.

The Dann saga was NEVER on any news agency. None.
Exactly... because you right wing idiots didn't care... Snatch was in office starting unjustified wars and the Fux at Faux were busy sewing the seeds of Patriotism. But now that Obama is in office the only answer is a BLOODY REVOLUTION!
The sad thing is, the Danns had a leg to stand on. Their contention was legit. The Bundy's ain't got sh#t... yet idiots are willing to defend them with guns.
Get your guns and go watch Fux. It will all be over soon enough.

You realize Bundy is a Mormon too, right? Which has even less to do with this situation than the Danns. Good job... nothing goes better with strawmen than fresh red herring.
So fuking what? Reid is corrupt? OMG, a corrupt politician!?!?! Best get your guns... this is Merkin territory!

Yes, the agents should have been in standard uniform. Yes, they should have attempted to arrest Weaver openly (with major backup).
Let me say more clearly, the Feds fued this one up. I am not claiming the Weavers had it coming to them. I am saying that this sht happens when armed citizens think they can confront Federal agents. Vicki Weaver was very sadly "collateral damage", killed by a bullet that passed through her husband.
...1994 Ruby Ridge Task Force Report and the public 1995 Senate subcommittee report on Ruby Ridge criticized the rules of engagement as unconstitutional.

Mechrist, you've got to turn off the TV and maybe try to think a little more critically. You're stuck in the fabricated lies and mythology of Blue vs. Red. There really is no difference anymore.
The puppet currently in place is merely an anchorman for the regime and reads the teleprompter. He's no different than the last puppet, albeit this one is not retarded which makes him all the more culpable.

There I just gave you your day back.
Bet you won't stop typing though......
Well, you can lead a fool to water but...or there's a sayin' in Tennesee and Texas Fool me once shame on..shame on..fool me...YOU CAIN'T GET FOOLED AGAIN.
Funny, I got up this am, like 950 posts. Had a cup of joe, read the NYT...1000, went out for a 15 mile spin on the road bike, come back 1100. I think about half of em are Huff-n-Chuff posting the same damn thing over and over about some other random cattle ranching event. Who the hell are the "Danns"? And why are you Huffin' and Chuffin' about em?
Accept Dingus's gift and go fishin or something. I'm having lunch then headed out to boulder. Breakfast, cup o Peets, NYT, road ride, bouldering, hot shower, sockeye salmon for dinner. That's a pretty good day...and it didn't once involve threating my local law enforcement with any of my firearms while they were doing their legal duties of enforcing the law.
