Very good news indeed LeAnn!
Is he going to be in Yucca Valley or 29 Palms? At least he'll be closer to home and friends. That should help him a lot.

Donation info:
To send a card, check, or something else:
Blitzo
c/o Russ Walling
HC1 Box 696
Joshua Tree, Ca. 92252
To send a check, make it out to Russ Walling as his bank account is still not quite set up, send it to the address above, and I'll cash it and hand him the money since he (except when he is in the hospital!) lives here at our house.
PayPal is still probably best:
RevBlitzo@hotmail.com is his personal address to send it to. Or, if that one makes you nervous, you can send it to me at "paypal@FishProducts.com" and I'll transfer it to Blitzo.
Thanks!

Leaving the river from a few days holiday popped up the voice mail from the Social Worker at Arrowhead Medical. She basically told me the same thing and mentioned she was calling Leigh-Ann next.
This is excellent news yet pretty curious as I just spoke with MediCal three times over the past month and there was not talk of such a development. On the contrary actually and the same from the Social Worker. I did turn in his re-eligibility form but that was last week and can't imagine that has anything to do with upping his coverage.
We all of course are thrilled! We want more services available to him and closer facilities to home-base would be ideal! MediCal does that for us.
We have a release of information on file with Medical for them to speak with me directly. I've got some business to attend to but will get to that next and see what exactly is going on and what's the next step in finding him some local care.
Beth, to answer your question.... unknown or too early to tell. We want to find him the absolute best LTC facility within the area. Maybe the one across from the hospital? That would be super convenient but if Yucca Valley has better services, caregivers and facility... we'll shoot for that. I'm not sure how the insurance works either, I suspect (but have done no such research) that not all facilities will accept the Medical Insurance program so we may need to dig a bit.
More to come people, but this is good news indeed.

Okay, it's true and been confirmed straight from the Medi-Cal office that Blitzo has been upgraded to full Medi-Cal coverage! Yeah, this is fantastic news and opens up lots of care opportunities...
Next task is finding someone local that is providing GOOD care that accepts Medi-Cal. I can already tell I need a more comfortable chair, liquor and back-pain pills.

hey there sooze, got the 'hug name' quilt coming soon, and phylp's quilt, that was too thick to add the pieces to, IS coming to BE THE SOFT QUILT back, for the wheelchair-comfort (with climbing spots, embroidered on it, in a few spots) and A PILLOW will be included for the feet, as you mentioned!!
*note to justthemaid, those thin pieces, though, DID fit on the name-quilt)
and phylp, your quilt is great for the wheelchair, so it worked for the gift, i a different way)...
also, sooze, an oops here:
i just sent a card and a little surprise to house address instead of the p.o. box, :( so, if you won't be home, HOPE it will be okay... you said you are going on a small vacation????
great to hear the medicare really did take!

I'll ask a friend of mine in town who's a PA and has worked the area for years what she knows and if she has any advice.
Susan, can you please call me with some info that may not be best suited for the internet?
Thanks,
Robert

Susan and I were on the phone most of the day with Arrowhead and the new facility options. Looks like he will either be in Joshua Tree or in Yucca Valley. I will know more tomorrow once the social worker and case manager have all our options available. But both seem to be a for sure option as of right now...just depends on hospice stuff. Looks like he could be moved to his new digs as early as Thursday or Friday depending on transport.
This is really really important folks. If he is here, we can see him everyday and he desperately needs his spirits lifted. This is HUGE. Plus I can force him to do physical therapy cause he actually listens to us when we are able to see him more often.
YAY!!!!
Updates to follow.

Thanks BB, transportation will be covered. He's not getting released to us... rather transported to another facility. Under the circumstances and his current condition, he'll be catching a medical transport ride.
Our game plan is to go check out the two JTree, Yucca Valley options. One has much better ratings than the other but hope to get a feel for which facility would suit him best. Both pretty convenient for us locals and/or visitors that would want to stop by when in the area.
We're pretty excited to have him back on our turf, or close to it. The distance is hard, phone calls get boring for him and you almost need to plan to go visit and just hope that by the time you arrive his good day hasn't slide into a bad day.
Super psyched that we have options! Options are good and looking forward to more regular visits and being able to drop off the goodies that people send. Sonya........ don't preheat the oven yet but we're close :)
