i'm gonna do the I-5 with a leaky radiator and four bald tyres,

no guts, no glory,

who wants to ride with a freak in a broken down car full of dangerous mind altering chemicals?

or maybe take the greyhound and write a book about the freaks on the bus?

any politicians that show up are gonna get their belay line dropped at the worst possible moment,

don't worry, i got some body bags in the trunk,

bmacd-

Yeah, Cali does not appreciate posing hosers coming in via Nevada. But go south and come in from Mexico; you'll be golden. Plus you won't need a driver's license or car insurance.

THIS JUST IN....LATE BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!

Courtesy of the American Alpine Club the Gordon Family Fest will have Two kegs of beer for our enjoyment.

Donations per glass accepted at the AAC booth. Suggested Donations are.....

$5 Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Mug ($9 value alone) donated by La Sportiva - Filled with cold, yummy, frothy beer!
$2 for plastic cup of beer

What's the rub????? Jeff at the AAC is looking for volunteers to help with the serving from the kegs and collection of donated dollars. What better place to call "base" as you visit with friends and serve beer for the Gordons? Please post up here or email Jeff Deikis at the AAC jdeikis@americanalpineclub.org if available to help serve.

A big thank you to the AAC, La Sportiva and Tacoland!

Hmm, there is a story there.

Greg, no roof material schlepping needed. Party assistance would be good.

Yes a huge thanks to the AAC, La Sportiva and all for the brew connection.

Let me know if you have been inadvertantly left off either list. If I had known things would get this big I would have started my records in an Excel spreadsheet!

Already contacted Todd directly, but Valarie and I will not be at the event after all. We're in the middle of opening a bouldering gym in Orange, CA and with other obligations and with the way all of the related schedules worked out, that was the best weekend to have our Grand Opening.

Many thanks to the others who have contributed gear to the raffles and auctions and to everyone who's organizing things behind the scenes. Todd and his family have been there for the local community for years, and no one is more deserving than they are.

Have fun everyone and drink a few for me...

Pulled the trigger and...

I'll be there!

That is, if we don't end up in a crawl space in Idyllwild...

Add me and my chariot driver and rope gun, Banks, to the list of attendees please.

Whoo hooo!

Banks, please do. Jeff at the AAC wants to take some photos and mingle on behalf of the American Alpine Club. He can't be expected to serve sad rummies all night solo. I beg of you and others, to contact him to help out.

QC? Naaaah we got that covered by RLF!

The piton Todd Gordon used on the 1st ascent of "Hot Dog in a Bun" will be up for auction.

There is story about this piton in the new "Classic Joshua Tree" guide by R Vogel pg 503
Todd mentioned placing a "funny Italian piton, slightly larger than a RURP"
He wasn't sure if the piton was still on place on the climb

The route was put up in 2/91 with the pin and 4 bolts.

Well the piton lasted until 5/2001 when I did the route.

I climbed up clipped the small piton and slipped just before clipping the first bolt. I fell pulling the piton and landed on my ass. I got back up with more attention now with the piton gone and finished the climb.

Todd has said many times "climbing is dirty and dangerous" yes it can be

IF things work out, that's a big if, but IF they do, we plan on having a variety of Mexican dishes to present to this very special gathering. Food will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 pm

Like the Mayor Gordo said last year, first come first served.

This is your challenge. We'll only make so much of each dish which will provide variety but no guarrentes your favorite one will be there when you show up.

Part of the wish list menu....depending on how much time I have this coming week.

Fresh guacamole and chips (avos donated from the Leichtfuss trees)
Ceviche and chips
Spinach enchiladas
Chicken/spinach enchiladas
Pork & white bean chile verde
Taco Salad
Mango/Cheese Chutney Quesidillas
Tacos Verdes
Tortilla Soup
Marinated flank steak/chicken/shrimp with tortillas and trimmings
Barbarian's Chile'

Probably won't be able to pull off a new delicious black bean soup with orange, avocado and cucumber and other great recipes. Too time consuming in their final stages of preparation.

However it turns out it will be cooked and served with love around the Taco Campfire in Honor of the Mayor Gordo. lynnie
