jstan, isn't unequal debate when the other party refuses to accept your call for debate?
What if he refuses to see you? Is that debate?
Kinda like the town-hall effect. When people finally get to talk to you, they're usually pissed off when you've ignored their discussion, ideas, and calls for listening to their opinions.

Funny thing is, most of you repug droids (jdf, cchopper, chaz) probably don't know sh*t about what actually happened during Obama's speech last night, or who Joe Wilson is, or why his comment was newsworthy, or anything.
All you know is that Glen Beck or Hannity or Eric Erickson said Wilson is a god, and you fall right in line. Brainless feckin idiots, all of you.

Initially I did not feel the need to cut down the number of political threads but now that Dr. F has gone and done this great one thread thing, I think it really helps. I guess the way to support it is by not posting to the sports that keep popping up. Let them go to the back of the line and disappear ASAP.

I am not at all supportive of allowing illegal immigrants full access to our health system- but this is an immigration problem first, and one of the ripples from this immigration problem is the effect of the health system.
It's unrealistic to not give consideration to how care is going to be provided to anyone (legal or not) who, for whatever reason, doesn't have some kind of coverage. To do so would be, well, status quo. These people are receiving care, and it has to be paid for somehow- all the while, immigration policy and practice needs to be changed to stem the flow.
Fact is, though, the numbers of illegals receiving care is very small, and the anti-reform Repugs are using the hot-button issue of immigration to inflame further resistance to reform. Not unlike end-of-life decisions, illegal immigrant care is going to happen, and it is better planned for than not. This is just another fear (racist?) diversion by the Repugs and their media poodles to distract from facts.

I tell ya, this thread started out getting hammered by ST'ers, complaining about 'yet another politi-thread on a Climber's Forum', then they pretty much left it alone as most of us polititards landed here.
Now that it's approaching the 10k number (3x the previous SFHD record), everybody comes out of the woodwork trying to get a piece of the 10k action. Opportunists.
