Botteschini was so appreciated by Verdi that he was given the job of conducting his brand new opera, Aida, at Cairo.
Although Verdi did not attend the premiere in Cairo, he was most dissatisfied with the fact that the audience consisted of invited dignitaries,
politicians and critics, but no members of the general public.
He therefore considered the Italian (and European) premiere, held at La Scala, Milan on 8 February 1872,
and a performance in which he was heavily involved at every stage, to be its real premiere.

Using only voice and ears.
No teleprompter.
No cards.
Just you.
And the other guy.
Convivially conversing.
Untwisting some words.
Softly lisping others.
All words that came before are now present.
All words to come are not yet spoken.
"Now wait just a second, mister..."
"No. Shut up and draw me a picture."
I watched this night before last. You might could find it a conversation piece. Gore Vidal was a brilliant conversationalist.

Details at 11. Eleven what? You have to ask?
Dave VR, not unlike that thief Z-man, has also underwent an epiphany and was reborn, before he died, as Dave Van Gogh. Ask the Howl guy about Z-man's thievery. Ooops, he's dead too. Ungratefully so.
Ear-full?

The item Gnome posted about Hernan Cortes' GF, La Malinche, brought to mind the story of Jaguar Paw.

Mel Gibson from 2006, high quality, 7.8 rating.
No one can outrun their destiny, neither Savages nor Civilized Men.
"Ain't no difference 'tween the two."--Cocaine Blues
A few things about the movie are intriguing.
The rant delivered by the high priest at @ 1:00:00 and the rants delivered by der Fuhrer @ 80 years ago.
The crassness of living in a civilized environment among so many others, as many of we do,
rather than surrounded by the relative peacefulness of nature, as we were made to do.
A drought that persists so long that the civilization is brought to its knees--the Maya not the Aztecs.
This might have been fodder for a Shakespearean play, had the bard any knowledge of the ways of MesoAmerica, as he did of Greece and Rome.
The ending is a bit too Hollywood.

[Click to View YouTube Video]Thinking and oh palm to face, thumb to chin, in thinker pose, classic if the tumb ain't there do you think ?!
so don't take it hard awhile back post # 29 on the thread - L L tagged,
your sense of humor was thusly tested, and so having stepped to far, I'm sorry I apologize,
with out a thumb to chin, classic thinker pose.. . . (Of corse, course, chorus you think, DInk)
Cello's in the midst
( the Red 'Tag'; Zap with a# at the end of the tail... I used a similar tag mark way way back , skateboard dayz @'75 or so.)
It was a shock to see it here in a high school that I have never before been to although The story that Jim Morrison and the doors played here has some merit.
I used to call Alan Ginsberg Nic, and he bought me Ice-cream in the heat of the city summer.
Nicholas Rapshanack, It was in the early eighties. harmeless cavorting had attracted him to the corner park benches that some Goth kidz and a punk or two were always hangin' at back when Wendy-0- W was still around out front .

Ginsberg in addition to making those two appearances above at the Dylan show above and being a noted poet, was actually well ahead of his time in photo manipulation as you'll see here where he actually got Leary's head to spin like that gal in The Exorcist.
Cassady while maybe impressed, did not think it all that funny.
If you're collecting Allen Ginsberg autographs here's a free one for ya.

Quasi Quid pro quo arranged, settled, sealed.
I think not, therefore I tag.
Were I a poor poet and had to spray my thoughts, a nice satin finish, not a gloss
Would be my preference.
A brush, some paint, some wine, and thee
Would do as well.
But nature's art hath no equal.
All shot within the last hour or so.
