Hey, Fritzy, thanks for that! I was wondering what the deal was with the
flyin' canoe. I just figgered the Quebecers were puttin' a froggie spin on ET.
Oh, and while it would be better savored slightly warmer it went down most pleasantly cold.

Oh man, that's a scary post for me to follow, being allergic to shellfish. Hence Wee-Wee the Big Wall Crab has no worries, no matter how long the wall and how hungry I get.

Yeah, I know it's only Thursday night, and it's only been one margarita on an empty stomach [so far], but I'm just having too much fun on the Wings of Steel thread!

There is a great beer made in Chambly, Quebec called "Fin du Monde" which means "end of the world". It's 9%, and you gotta watch out. They sell it in the states, I've seen it in Kentucky and other places. I think Dingus is familiar with it.

In France, the French speak with a fairly pure accent, so the word "maudit" meaning "damned" comes out sounding "moe-DEE". There is a Mont Maudit, which is a satellite of Mont Blanc.

Now in Quebec, the accent is quite bastardized, and even us Hosers have a hard time understanding it. Les Quebecoises know this, and of course exaggerate it and speak faster, just to be plus difficile.

Margaret Atwood, our Canadian author and advocate of not closing li-baries in Tronnoh, once wrote somewhere [hell if I know where] that Canadians swear about what they understand the least - the French swear about the church, and the English swear about sex. It's true!

In Quebec, one of the most fun swear word expressions is "maudit tabernacle", but the Quebecois have a great pronunciation of "maudit" - it comes out "moe-DZEE". So together, it comes out "moe-DZEE ta-ber-NAK!" C'mon - say it out loud: "Moe-DZEE ta-ber-NAK!" Isn't that just a joy, the way it rolls off your tongue?! The way you hruf in the back of your throat?

You just can't swear that way in France.

The only people who swear better than the Quebecois are the A-rabs. My gosh, especially the Lebanese. You get a body part and a family member, then maybe you throw in an occupation and you're pretty well set:

"Kas imak sharmouta!"

Ask me tomorrow night to start swearing in Arabic.....

Now I'm going to go clean the pool while drunk. See you at Stoney on Sunday morning. Bring your harness and leave the crash pad at home.

I have to keep checking PTPP's rules for this thread:

Rules:

1. Your current consumption

2. At least one inflammatory comment

3. Why you are drunk and typing on McTopo instead of doing something worthwhile, like driving to the crag.

Ok.

Heidi and I are on the outside of a bottle of Cline Ancient Vines Zinfandel, and I just poured myself a glass of Pendleton Canadian Whiskey.
Good schist and best of all: it was a gift!

Who the schist was it that dared to: "give me hell" about my Zinfandel habit? A "lower-grade" drinker for sure! All we Zin-fans know the best thing about Zins is: the high-alcohol content. I only buy Zins that are 15% alcohol or more.

Off for City of Rocks in the morning for 3 days of climbing, drinking, and culinary fun------spiced with dodging lightning bolts from the predicted thunderstorms.

So I'm running slightly unlawful tonight...

Drinking a German Kapuzinger Alkoholfrei. This is a weizen that comes in the old school bottles with the hinged lid. Very tasty! Next up will be a Schofferhoffer, my favorite of all the German N/A brews. My last one of the ones I smuggled back from my trip. :(

Tonight's cigar is a Habana Bolivar #3 (shhhhh)

Can't think of anything inflammatory to say....guess it's the Cuban buzz lol.

Jim, Jim, Jim, I used to think that about white wine, and generally, there is some truth to that, but luckily the "word" isn't out yet about how good a good white can be. Food is also important to getting the most out of whites.

Damn it, I wish I could crack a bottle now but this damn gout thing is a true buzz-killer. It's a good gauge to how bad/good my drinking can get.

Been a hell of a day. Only 4 hours sleep...

Started off with taking the car to get a nice new timing belt ($400), and then had to get the truck ready for it's yearly smog. I think I took it to the store once since I smogged it last year. 94 F150 with about 160k on the clock and a straight 6.

Battery was too flat to charge, so I changed that out. Tuned the key and it fired right up. Might be a junker, but it runs. Drove it down to the smog shop and it passed. Quick run to the DMV and back home.

All that work, I decided I wanted to try something new in the cigar dept, picked up a Havana Sweet on the way home, (I'm partial to flavoreds)

Lit it up and tried to smoke it for about 5 minutes before pitching it. Back to the box for a Drew Estates Blondie.

NOW, finally settled out on the porch, with an O'Douls Amber and the laptop running along. *deep breath*

Relaxing time for a bit, and then back inside to pack for Zion for LDW.

Have a good one y'all!

For the rules
1) 5 shots Jameson... 2 pitchers Windermere hefe.
2) this sobriety sh#t is purely depressing.. My climbing partner is a number chasing bitch that shits his pants on runout mods and I'm ready to move on.
3) Because I figure climbing o dubs is a more full value experience hungover and maybe because it's Friday and people are only tolerable while drunk but still lame enough to have me post here at a bar
