And both predicted by climate change. What's your point?
Overall impact after you subtract the loss from the gains: Antarctic is losing land ice mass.

The rational people in this ridiculous exchange should step away from the keyboard and let the clueless FOX-blindered people rant in peace. There is absolutely nothing you can say that will move their opinion one Angstrom towards understanding the science and complexity of the real world.
That is all. Carry on.

Interior antarctic ice mass gain was predicted by climate change scientists. Glad you confirmed that is indeed happening.

Ed previously pointed out that future research may show that we are not gaining interior ice mass. Time will tell. The generally accepted science now is that the interior is gaining.

Yep, I know you have a hard time with words that don't convey 100% certainty either way.
Glad we all agree, Antarctic is losing land ice mass.

Skep, we know that you're right and the ideologues won't learn science. They prove that with every single post. Trouble is, if you let them rant away unchallenged then for quieter folks who aren't so sure what to think, that noise is all they will hear.

The goal in this discussion ... is to learn about the climate science through answering their questions
Ok. I can live with that. You're all doing a great job, by the way.

I see, you quote a 2012 paper with data to 2010 on the last page that says the interior is gaining and overall the continent is losing.
But you only accept the gaining part because another paper that goes to 2008 says Antarctic overall gained since 2003.
I NEVER stated it WASN'T happening MONO.
So you just now had an epiphany?

We were talking just about land ice mass gain or not in Antarctica. If you want to change the subject, fire away.

Then you should not mention their avatars in your posts, because it makes it look like it is a debate, which it is not ... debates have moderators and rules.
No one claimed this was a debate, it's not even much of an argument, with one group venting incomprehension, rage and paranoia mixed together with talking points from political blogs in more or less random order. But the value IMO lies with providing a science-based response to those talking points, which are widely repeated by political activists and media.

I suspect it would be better to use the generic term "some troll said ..."
That's a thought. In the case of one sock-puppet using troll in particular, keeping his own shaky emotional state at the center of everyone's attention appears to be the main goal.

Negative MONO.
Climate Change IS NOT manmade.
Thus spoke the troll ...
... who has no idea about what he is saying, can't read the papers that disprove his assertions, and generally pulls crap out of the air and blows it hot and loud back out on this thread. The less informed, the hotter and louder does this troll froth.
You can almost see the child-like man, stomping his feet back and forth in an attempt to get you to listen.
Climate Change IS NOT manmade.
ION (In other news)
Ocean warming from climate change could make some parts of the world ‘uninsurable’, according to a new report (pdf) from global insurance trade body, the Geneva Association.

Looks like the insurance industry is going to have to make some tough decisions.

I'm glad we got past that point; overall, Antarctica is losing ice mass. With a warming surrounding ocean even a growing interior will be a relatively short term anomaly. It's like an island of ice in the sky of a warming planet.

These are two very excellent summaries you have provided above of the thread at this point Chiloe. I feel like we are at a DUI checkpoint watching people like Ed talk about the rules and regulations, and measurable data like 0.08, while others... well, they stumble and bumble, weave on the line, and belligerently insist they aren't *hic* drunk, offishur.
LMAO
Actually I think a better analogy is that Ed is patiently trying to explain the effects of alcohol at DUI school for repeat offenders who are in complete denial of the the truth.

If global warming is happening from natural causes, should we just deal with the consequences or try to reduce it? Which costs more an ounce of prevention or a pound of cure?
BTW humanity could completely change the climate in a matter of days into a nuclear winter, so the whole humanity can't change the climate B.S. is foolish.

In the meantime, you Climate Change Utopians are all buying the Fifths of Vodka daily, slamming em down and then getting right into your vehicles and driving around just like the rest of us.
Once again you lump everyone in the same bucket, like there is no range of response. Besides, people are not going to do a f*#king thing until they understand what is going on. This thread is more about accepting that humans are changing the climate rather than what to do about it. That has to come first.
AND, just maybe we have not had a Nuclear Winter because of all the 'Alarmism' about that. All those damn catastrophists should just go home.........yeah right! Ya Sure, Ya Bet Ya!

People like this guy are the ones on the Denialist side;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ROw_cDKwc0
They start speaking English at about 45 seconds. Murry Salby is one of the 'scientists' on Rick's side. The denialists seem to be falling all over this guy......what choice do they have! The strange thing about this version of Jackass is that Johnny Knoxville isn't in it.
