t*r... it is the best thread. I had so much fun with my kid when she was growing up.. climbing, skiing, worrying about boys.... wait a minute! Haha... seriously, it is worth it. Today, she has my granddaughter and I'm like, hey, she needs to be skiing (shes 4), and Cassie is saying.. "Oh no, that's too dangerous!" Whatever Cassie, I seem to remember a 17 year old speed demon on the, slopes, flying by me at the speed of light! I was thinking... man, she needs a helmet!

I guess every Grandpa thinks his granddaughter is the strongest, smartest, most beautiful child on the planet...
But you'll have to agree, she does seem able to make the moves:
And, Oh do I love to boulder with her:

This is (one of the) verybestthreads™
at this point I don't want to post reruns, so I'm combing the corporate cores for new ( at least previously untacoided) images.
begs the question though, a poster's daughter ? Or other of our sisters who are all daughters, after all.
Similar deal on the Genes thread™; our double helices express themselves in more ways in our own kids.; we all have parents, siblings, genome-ically extended family members etc
Too bad Jody ran away, he has some awesome, related images.

First time in Fontainebleau, I saw a mother-daughter team climbing at Bas Cuvier.
The daughter was in her early sixties. Her mom? Who knows?
So Tami, there's hope yet.

I need to scan some old pics. I have one of her when she was 6 weeks old at the pinnacles, we took a friend with us so someone would hold the baby while my wife and I got to do some climbing. Another pic about 1 yr old with her binky haning off a biner, clipped to a prusic loop on her neck. Then the living room climbing wall.
I'm looking forward to a great summer of climbing, hiking, camping et al.
Here's a few pics from last year.
First lead
Belaying her brother, I've never known anyone to be so fired up wanting to belay. The same attitude she has about driving, in AK you can get your permit at 14, and I'd been giving her lessons at 13. She did belay me up a 4 pitch route, for some reason I forgot the camera that day.
She did awesome at cross country running this, her freshman hs year. Ended up on the varsity team, second fastest in the school, and was just shy of making it to state championships. Every race she was faster, and I honestly don't think she knows what she is capable of.
I love her dearly, the absolute best thing is when we are out somewhere, so comes up and puts her arm through mine leans in close and says how are you pappa. Thank you God for daughters!

Nice thread Rich.
If I had a daughter I would be bragging and showing her off like you all! Instead I'll show off my boy Jake (I'll brag later)! He is a gym climber as well as a trad guy. Mom, after all, is a gym manager.

My then 8 year old daughter Cierra staying sober on 'Whiskey Bill' (5.8), Fresno Dome
I wish Barbella would chime in. His daughter Alex is a super talented gal. I remember climbing a handful of routes with her throughout the summer of 2006 and also into the next season at the Monument with the SSCA gang. I'll never forget when she lead her first 5.9 there (Exfoliation Confrontation 5.9+) in the Corral. Watched her pop off before clipping the 2nd bolts (nice 12' whipper off the start!) and getting right back on it without batting an eye and sending it into the record books.
John, if your reading this, you are truly blessed.

I don't really climb with my daughter anymore because she climbs on a different planet than I--one with less gravity. But I've certainly enjoyed watching her over the years.

Ive seen that kid, isnt she is the phenom from WA state? She IS totally out of this world...
I wasnt too disappointed when my kid quit the climbing team because it means I will be able to keep up with her for now and she wont be too bored with the things that I can climb.
