How is Brigham City air? Was fine when I lived there - a few blocks from the Wasatch.

Close to skiing, etc. Was kind of a one company town at the time, though - Thiokol.

Ok, Paganmonkeyboy, (wow, spelled the whole name right out on a Fri. Nite. too cool)

I may have to sacrifice myself to Chaminoux for you....I think it's the best choice. But I think in the next 6 months I can check it out. Will let you know....If I return. :D

Actually the boat idea is pretty good. Just get a 20-30 foot boat and a berth!

Port of Redwood City, Isleton, Oakland. Tahoe probably has similar berths. If it's in the Delta though you have more range.

It rains ALL the time in Vancouver, and Squamish. The natives are heterogeneous and liberal. The real natives are...interesting. Property prices are absurd. You need to have a D-8 to create new routes. The place is full of liberal refugees from the U.S. There's no cultural life worth talking about - the place shuts down at 8:00 weeknights, 9:00 Fridays and Saturdays. The beer is like making love in a canoe - f***ing close to water. The politics are bizarre. Russ W has visited, and won't be back. Food is great - if you like Micky D's, and "Chinese-Canadian cuisine", or are a bait eater. And the climbers are all jerks, fantasizing about what climbing was like in the 1970s - except they can't really remember.

Try Penticton instead. Okanagan Valley. Sunny and warm. Skaha. Full of retired people and (supposedly) teenage meth addicts. Excellent swimming. OK skiing. Five hours from Bugaboos and Squamish. Lots of limp wristed 'sport' climbing for TeamWayHomo.

Have you been to Tahoe / Truckee? Hard to beat the skiing / climbing combo if you want to stay on this side of the Atlantic. Can't count the number of days, in my youth, that I skied and climbed in the same day. Donner Summit has places you can practically belay from the hood of your car 15 minutes from town. Weekends the Valley and Eastside backcountry are close. Free concerts in the park in Truckee are rocking, along with the customary resort bar life / cover bands. Lots of music options in Reno less than an hour away. If I could though, I would head for somewhere in the alps if you have nothing holding you in the States. Nice dilemma to have.

I've lived in a couple places that weren't what I thought or wanted them to be. "no matter where you go, there you are". Beyond that crap, go to where you can make money, you can always fly home.

anders you must be on the tourism board ;-) i hear the weed sucks too...

actually the rain is one of my main concerns when i think nesbit or something...i have a tough enough time dealing with depression here where the sun always shines, and i remember back in my days in buffalo, ny how the 300+ days of overcast drearyness made everyone just plain insane...

new z would be a move. the logistics boggle the mind though...

Well, can it be in more than one place?
I love to move back onto my island in Greece. I love to live outside of Bishop. I also have a thing for living in Ventura. It would be great fun to live in France, Switzerland, Indonesia, Hawaii etc. Plus, I swear that there is a small town in Colorado that is calling me home.
My only request is that it isn't a major city. The ideal place will be somewhere that has both large mountains and the ocean. But... If I have to choose one, than mountains is a must.
