True Trip Reports. Here is a tiny one.
Friday night I peddled around Haleakala and the sun caught me here.

But when the sun went down I was here

To the original poster, I definitely agree - as do thousands of lurkers. I've gotten to where I just don't read or post in most threads because of that.

You know, it's tough, because I'm all about not having a monitor of some sort, and I enjoy the free nature of this forum, but all the guys that say it's a virtual campfire have never been around one in my opinion.

No campfire I have EVER been to has had this much political ranting.

And the truth is that if people were as rude to each other around the fire as they are here, they'd straight get their ass kicked, for sure.

I'm not saying I'm perfect and don't get drawn in sometimes - I'm just saying I like to read about the climbing on a climbing forum. That's why I keep coming back - for the gems. But they're getting harder to find.

So I'll add my thanks to those that try to keep this a climbers forum, too.

Peace - and no offense to those who don't have an outdoors life.
You've got enough problems.

That "this is an election year" and "it will pass in a couple months" is total bullshiit. The raving will go on regardless of who is picked, and bait will be cut and eaten at nearly the same rate.
This has been going on for years here, not with the tide of which assshole is in the White House, but on the whim of a few driven individuals that have some overriding onboard need to continuously spray their "I'm smarter than the President" bullsh#t, while living in a van down by the river and poaching broadband service. It is fukking pathetic.
As for the "post more climbing content if you don't like the way it is going" crew..... well, posting good content takes time, and devoting time and effort to do something like that, one would need to at a minimum enjoy the medium and respect the members and the forum to which their work will be hosted. I'm not seeing that here.

Fuk it... I'm pulling a Riley. I quit. You will not see me on these forums again.

You think it's bad now, just wait 'till climbing season lags in Nov-Feb and we have a new asshat president!!!

Y'all will be really cryin' and filling up the board with t*r crap, skiing threads, and crying about how the election was stolen.

Mmmwaahhhh!!!

EDIT: re: teaching neubies in earlier post....someone at TM was nice enough to teach me how to open a beer with a carabiner..of course not a gear beener. What a feat ! Mexican beers are harder to open than Euros. : ) (Keeping on topic here)

I've been trying. Really. Though I'm apparently now on double-secret RussProbation™®©, and have to redeem myself.

I was just wondering, though. Is it still OK to talk about poker?
