Rollerskates and a powered chute baby!

Welcome "back" Ed.

People who don't tie their real name to their handles ARE BY DEFINITION poseurs, but Ed is a real asset to the taco.
I read the start of this thread before heading out early and it inspired me to shuffle vehicles. What good is having a german rocket sled if it just sits in the garage?
Ofcourse I WOULD get stuck behind a clusterfuque for 15 pebble spitting miles but when I finally squirted through with an even more aggressive Cal SUV ahead that I thought would "plow the road" of cops I let the horses run,..

I'm not going to say how fast, but when I slowed down to the 94 the cop clocked me at I thought I HAD to be legal.

Doh!

But by then I was in Iron County and I've always found it to be friendlier there. After all, they named it after me.
So (and Jody should like this) I recognized the UHP's name (had seen him once 28 years ago) and did a little name dropping. I was visiting X (true, and a friend of his), sent by Y (his doctor as well!). I had been on Ira's SAR team. Ira was the longest serving sheriff in Utah history and EVERYONE knew him. And then I trotted out the biggest gun; his daughter had been my climbing student!

He apologized for writing me up for 85, and we laughed and chewed the fat a bit.

So anyway this is your fault Hartouni for getting me to listen to that damn song again! You see when it came out I was a teenager used to hearing young women tell me, "Ooh! I wish I had hair like yours."

OK, its been a while.

But it was rough going because I was working on a ranch in Wyoming.
Oy! You have no idea the crap I suffered.

But the nice thing about the taco is how it can build bridges between generations which reminds me of the version of the thread title song on, I believe, Another Stoney Evening when Crosby does it as a duet with the lead singer of the Black Crowes but prefaces it by saying that he always made a point of playing the song when he was in prison because it pissed off the warden so much.

Cheers

Yeah Ed! WTF!!!!

Your TR's along with the rest of the BAWC happenings were so inspiring that I took the pistol out of my mouth, lost 20 lbs, started the JT Wide Friday ritual, and spawned http://www.WideFetish.com ..... all generated from the tingling chub I got reading about what you guys were doing. Don't make me taste the metal again..... just say'in.

Russ, russ, Russ, keep that metal away from your mouth, we may still end up being neighbors and that behavior could be gross.

I'm amazed at the whole BAWC thing, and glad to be part of it.

Ron, that is a positive scenario, I've had 'em too,

So the rock is the medium were friendship flourish or go south.

A few of mine have lasted through the test of time. Richard Aschert...cancer survivor, great climber, wonderful friend and my climbing partner for 25 years. We can do a big wall in the Black together and not say three words to each other....I trust him with my life and never think twice about gear or anchors that he has place. Climbed new trad and sport routes with Richard and with him have climbed some of the best routes I have ever done. We done numerous new routes together and hopefully will continue to do so...friend for life!

Greg Hand, retired, one handicap golfer, great friend and climber. Greg is the anti-Bob, cool, calm and reserved. Uses logic more than emotion and has done maybe 150 FA's with me in Boulder Canyon.

He cleans up my mess at the crag and always bring extra water and chalk for me. Doesn't get more loyal than that. We just did two new routes today in Boulder Canyon and with him I have done some real soon to be classics in the Canyon. Friend for life!

I love these two guys and I am really glad that they are in my life.

Many of us are less alone in the world than we suspect because of our supertopo network.

I've known folks that posted on the taco a bit and then had some issue crop up in their lives. People erupted out of the woodwork to help with links, advice, places to stay, even cash in certain cases.

Our community and networks of people with similar interests are a form of wealth and abundance to put it mildly. Folks who say "it just the Internet" are missing the point.

Love live the Taco and all of you. Pura Vida!

Peace

Hey Ed,
I too, like everyone else, really enjoy your TR's.
I don't even care if they are about some 5.7 route....
It's just good to hear about people getting after it...and anything is better than politics!

I also happen to really like your fisix stuff too, even though most of it is way over my head.

So thanks for what you contribute, don't go anywhere and keep up the fine work.

Stick around Ed!

I am most definitely more of a lurker than a poster. I have the bad habit of reading a bit, getting a sense of the thread, then skimming down to see who posted what. By this point I know who is going to share something meaningful and who just wants to talk trash (with some pleasant exceptions), but I ALWAYS stop to read your posts and comments.

Keep talking physics with us and please don't stop the trip reports.

Much love to you all!

Almost cut my hair
It happened just the other day
It's gettin kinda long
I coulda said it wasn't in my way
But I didn't and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly
Cause I feel like I owe it to someone

Must be because I had the flu' for Christmas
And I'm not feeling up to par
It increases my paranoia
Like looking at my mirror and seeing a scar
But I'm not giving in an inch to fear
Cause I missed myself this year
I feel like I owe it to someone

When I finally get myself together
I'm going to get down in that sunny southern weather
And I find a place inside to laugh
Separate the wheat from the chaff
I feel like I owe it to someone

thanks all, of course somehow it's a great place to hang out....
but it is easy to hang here and not really out there.

Sorry for the drama. Sometimes we can loose track of what is really valuable.

it is "seeing a police car" thanks Bob, and John for the video... old times, those.

Like when someone says they're getting a photo of themselves during Thrash Thursday with gobies and a poodle pink ribbon in their hair...and posting it on ST...just because it would be funny...:-)

ST is all about the history, reading trip reports from guys who were there when it was all going down. As a gym rat, I learned early on the importance of History. Without a profound view of where we were we have no idea of where we are going.

Climbing at tahquitz and the valley is so much cooler when you really connect with and can put yourselves in the shoes of Wilts, Robbins, Harding, Sacherer, Pratt and Chouinard, and say to yourself "this was done in tennis shoes and goldline."

Extremely humbling. There was no glory or renowned fame, the community was small. Accomplishments were bragging rights, around the campfire. Then the focus would shift, to the next route...

Climbing. A lifestyle at its finest.

Cheers to the old dudes.
