Hi Nita,
We have to sign up at the Visitor Center. This is to ensure the Archeology people get their spiel in. Compliance for the Facelift is a lengthy process and I start on the next years Facelift shortly after finishing the last one. We have always tried to carpool as much as possible and with current gas prices there is more incentive. I haven't written a sponsorship letter yet for this year and won't until after the display is done on June 6.

Can't wait!
Count on at the very least three nights of sushi and maybe this year we'll be more organized with breakfast (not just that one day, eh?).
And perhaps we can put together that chili cook-off we tabled last year at SummerSushiFest?
Question/Thought: By the time the Facelift rolls around I will have completed my Level 1 Teachers Training (Anusara). It could/would be a lot of fun to teach a class or two if there is an interest? Any chance there is a facility we might be able to occupy for a few hours on a couple days (Ken)?

Ken's son may be interested, anyway - his impromptu sushi chef apprenticeship last year certainly was a start.
Maybe we can find a '51 Nash Rambler somewhere in which to conduct the sushi making classes. That would definitely be combining many of the important elements that make up the FaceLift. :-)
A lot of people contribute to the success of FaceLift, in a lot of different ways. It is a voluntary thing. But we need to keep focused, too, and ensure that one way or the other, our presence and work improve the park.

Mighty Hiker, sounds like a big job you have. So you are welcome to throw my comments in the round file and you know I will help wherever I can.
If you have a chili cook off, I have a great Pork Verde Mexican Classic I would love to share. If you need streams and rivers cleaned, I volunteer. Lynne

Thanks, Lynne, but I'm just one of the helpers. There are lots - it really is a team event. The motivating force is Ken, backed by his family and a cast of thousands.

Hello,
Everyone that has contacted me about camping in Yellow Pines is in so far. I have a special folder set up for you all and will respond with a confirmation soon.I will set up camping as to who contacts me first. It really makes my life easier if you let me know for which nights you want, how many people, and whether Yellow Pines or Camp 4. NPS has dozens of people to deal with registering campers and I do this myself for about 250-300 people.
DR, Send me an official email if you can now. I haven't forgot about you and will do my best to remember. Don't worry I will work out something for you.
As it stands now, Yellow Pines has a fair amount of space from the 22nd to the 26th and is almost full on the 27th and 28th. I still have walk-in camping available in Camp 4 for about 40 people and some space in Group Camp. Perimeter campgrounds like Crane Flat and Hogdon Meadows are easier. I have requests for camping for school groups, Brownie troops and corporate volunteer groups. It is amazing, because I have not advertised or promoted the event yet but seem to receive a lot of correspondence about it.
Once the exhibit is completed, I should have more time for this stuff.
I would like to thank Nita and others for helping with the procurement of raffle prizes. I sent Nita a modified sponsor request letter and she has improved it. She may be able to send it to you. Is that O.K. Nita?
Thank you all,
Ken

Ken, yes..no problem. I can email the papers if anyone wants to help out.
Tacoheads, let's help Chicken Skinner ..He is quite busy.
Any Mountain gear made in your home town? give them a call..tell them:
I'm calling to find out the procedure for requesting a donation.
I hate talking on telephones..I hate asking people for things, but..Ken needs help and this is a *Great-fun event*. I did it and it was no biggie.

I'll see if Arc'Teryx might be interested, if Ken hasn't already contacted them. My guess is that many manufacturers and retailers would want to be associated with the FaceLift, but it takes time to contact all of them and work out arrangements. Plus some should be asked for cash and in kind support rather than or in addition to donated gear, and it's important to keep communications clear. We wouldn't want four different people contacting Company X, each asking for different things for the FaceLift.
Another way people and companies can help is by making cash donations. FatTrad has set a good example in that regard. The YCA is a 501(c)(3), so you get a tax receipt for the donation (at least if you live in the U.S.), and it only actually costs you 2/3 to 3/4 of the amount you donate.
Edit: Late night bump for Fatty - for all his bombast, he knows what's good for him. If only he'd listened to his mother...

Nita, if someone would give me very specific details, cause I don't like suprises unless they are vacations, climbing shoes etc., I could organize a Mexican food night.
PS thanks for always watching my back and taking care of this newbie! It will be great to meet you! Lynnie

If you're not too busy eating sushi, organizing Mexican food, meeting new friends, picking up garbage, and doing the El Cap lieback, you should make a little time for climbing when you're in the Valley.

No it's not! It will be three months from June 24th, and I was going to start a new "Three Months to go" thread then, with a link to the preceding one. I figure once a thread gets over a hundred posts, it's time to consider a continuation.
But thanks for the bump, eh? :-)

Bump again,
Please send me an email Anders closer to the date, "I am an airhead when it comes to dates" Blame it on my island background... All I know is that time moves too fast for me to keep track... I should be teaching then so I can only make it for the weekend. Yet... What a fantastic weekend it is going to be!!!
Sending Love and lots of happy thoughts,

Hey Mike, good intents never go unrewarded! Are you going?
Mighty Hiker, got my friends going now also. We are ready to help starting the 22nd. I arrive late the 21st. Really jazzed to meet all my threadmasters. Lynnie
Hey, bluering, have you convinced the family to go?
SAY NITA OR CHICKEN SKINNER, I can donate boxes of zonas and climbing chalk. Just let me know if you want it and I will order now. Can send it up before the event so you will have it in hand. Do any of the clothes or shoes guys come to the event or donate?

Yes, Anastasia, I'll send you an e-mail about a month before the FaceLift, as a reminder. I may also post one or two threads on SuperTopo, to encourage interest, and maybe dislodge political and religious threads from the front page. As always, I'm just trying to help Ken and the YCA, so whatever works, and helps make the FaceLift a success.
