I realize that this thread is more or less dead after a year, but thought I would post this anyway. A friend of mine asked me recently to recount the story of Coral Bowman's fall on the Naked Edge, and that more or less spurred me on....
Coral and I were housemates, along with Dan Hare and Scott Woodruff (all great people, and better climbers than me) in the late 70's. She was climbing the Edge with Sue Giller, and due (I believe) to the sort of carabiner mishap thing that can happen to all of us if we're not careful, the main rope she was rapping on (to retrieve a stuck pack, I think, which was of course on the haul line) all of a sudden lost its anchor, and so there she went, and she managed to grab and stop herself on the 7/8 mm haul line and get to a ledge. I'm sure I couldn't have done that, though Coral had the advantage of being tiny.
Anyway, I knew Beth Bennett and Jim Michael and Dan Michael and Jim Holloway and other folks from that era, and I still look back on those people and times fondly in spite of being in my mid-50's now!

What's Hidetaka Suzuki been up to? Last time I saw him was at the Phoenix Bouldering Comp like 9 or 10 years ago.

Necro Post!
BITD, but not all that far back, there were some very visible movers and shakers in climbing. Where did they all go?
Geoff Weigand: oh my GOD! Lord that guy was such an as#@&%e. He was such a massive turd in most every way I truly wonder where he went and what he's doing?

#necro!!
I loves me some Geoff Weigand... had many good times with the “yella boy”. Dude was a master sh#t talker and could pick at a hidden scab on the most hardened individuals until they wept. In fact we were just talking about him last night... hope he is well and feisty whereever he might be.
