I believe in the KISS method of doing things. That is why my handle is my actual name.
KISS=(Keep It Simple Stupid)

In 1954 I was 4 years old and we lived in Yokyo. We had two Japanese maids that spoke very broken Jinglish. The best they could do with "Little Ricky" was "Rittle Licky" and it stuck.
Maysho

climber
Truckee, CA
Jul 2, 2007 - 11:09am PT
In the late 80's, Mickeys Beach was going off, new hard routes, and we were all learning how to sport climb. Scott Frye was the ringleader and often invited me out to climb. I was consumed with the project of starting up CityRock Gym, so I would often say, "thanks for the invite, I will try to make it." Half the time, I would be heading toward the door, and some crucial call would come in, and I would get sucked back into the work of trying to start my business. So Scott named me Maysho. I have an easier time with that one then the name Rob Lesher gave me way back when, Mater Peefield. These days, though often a little late, I generally show up if I say I will.

Back in my potheaded youth, Bluering was a bandname of ours that referred to the little rings you see in front of your eyes in the midst of a masssive bong-induced headrush. That's it.

rectorsquid

climber
Lake Tahoe
Jul 2, 2007 - 01:57pm PT
I had a friend who would fill out forms he found in various businesses around town to get free or discounted services. He used "rectorsquid" which is my last name followed by "squid." He thought it was funny that I would get lots of mail addressed to "David Rectorsquid." Ha ha ha.

That name is never already taken on any web site... which is handy. I don't like having a screen name like dave002011020438324554.77 and this name does the trick.

Good thread. Lot's of interesting replies.

I had a college friend John Washington who called himself "The Wash". He and others started calling me "the Fet", truncated from my last name.

Nice Story, Maysho!
I would have never guessed that one.

And I like the KISS method mentioned above, too.

I have 3 sisters whose names also begin with L. When my grandmother got older, she would just say "Oh L honey, could you this or that..." whenever she wanted any one of us to do something for her, because she just couldn't remember all those L names. It would make us kids laugh uncontrollably.

It's one of my favorite nicknames, and I thought it appropriate for the TacoStand.

I hate to admit that mine is a total computer geek thing, stemming from something called computer muds, which are online text RPG games. Nefarius was purposely misspelled, to give it more the persona of a name of a character, rather than be the word "nefarious". FOr whatever reason, I continued to use it as forums became popular, even though I haven't been on a mud in 10 years or so.

It makes me laugh now when I see people constantly spell it properly. I'm certain they all assume I can't spell worth a damn.
