WesChrist,
You're a hot-shot as far as the Bible's concerned, but how 'bout taking a look at The United States Constitution and find for me the section that authorizes The Federal Government to waste money on art.
Take as long as you need, it's an open-book assignment.

Here's a soothing song for you Wes:

Is that an honest stab?
Why can't you apply the discredited Myers-Briggs on your own, for what its worth, by just completing it yourself imagining you were him.
Or you could appropriate his human weakness and flaws - as in the loss-of-temper temple incident, claiming that he "doesn't turn the other cheek" - into your own foundation and then lash out with righteous indignance when you feel slighted by helpful suggestions.

Wow, you guys are still at it. I was doing this last night. Wes, you seem to be a reasonable guy. Again, check out Urantia. Has anybody out there read it or any parts of it? A favorite quote from said book: "The argumentative defense of any proposition is inversely proportional to the truth contained"

Uranta. . .venerable Tetrahydrocannabinol, has no to do with the "word". Read the Bible quietly & alone. Cry, laugh & feel, but do it alone. If that God speaks to you, our greatest reassurance question or justification will mean nothing. Best to you.

Why are they so insistent that Jesus wasn’t just a man, that he was special beyond any level we are capable of attaining?
Power and Control.
Getting people to follow something "greater" than themselves is much easier than following the word of man.

Weschrist,
I've been slumming in the Midwest for a while and totally out of touch with modern conveniences like the Internet. Are you still looking for Jesus (in all the wrong places), or have you found him?
And are we now attacking endowment for the arts since we can't seem to agree on JC Superstar's personality profile?
I tried reading the entire thread but got caught up in rambling prose and so many @$#%!!@, my neuraltransmitter fluids dried up.

"Cuz I'm not him and I am not a psychologist or sociologist, just curious."
Yet you don't hesitate to charachterize others:
"Mimi, you stupid whore (since we are name calling now)"
"It is too bad other people's approach to life is invalid in your world. It seems like your approach might result in you surrounding yourself with only those you already agree with, and missing out on other points of view"
Don't the qualifications that enable you to make those assessments also enable you to conduct a "somewhat serious psychoanalytical evaluation of his portrayal in the Bible"?
You're "curious" but you "don't really care who he was...".

"I was never actually looking for him, he has been dead for 2000+ years... give me a little credit!"--Weschrist
I was giving you a little credit, Weschrist. Since you seem to be such a literal person, I thought your thread "Looking for Jesus" was about just that. Not in the sense of a living, breathing human being, since any moron knows JC died long ago, but in the sense of the essense of who Jesus was as a man and what he embodied.
Now I can see you're feeling all defensive and interpreting everything as an attack. This is not an attack. I promise you.
When I suggested that you were "looking for Jesus in all the wrong places", I merely meant that you're looking at something (the Bible) as a literal interpretaion of historical events and that it is not.
So how can you expect anyone, professional or amateur, to build a personality profile from the collected myths and fabrications of generation upon generation of biased soothsayers?
Go purchase a Joseph Campbell CD called "Christianity". (I'm sure you know who Joseph Campbell is.) He does an amazing job of synthesizing socio-economic conditions with evolutionary aspects of mental/spiritual development and revealing how religion and "prophets" were manifestions of these dynamic factors. He does it with humor, captivating analysis, and the finese of a master storyteller.
If anything I've just said to you sounded demeaning, insulting or otherwise offensive, please forgive my ineptitude with words. It wasn't meant to in the slightest.

"Maybe you should be a little more open to other peoples personal journeys and not your own very narrow one. There are many roads to travel upon that all end up in the same place"
This is true but often misused. Some people take it to mean that no matter what they do, they will end up making it to heaven or back to God. This is in part true. Since everything is made out of God, there isn't anything else, so everything will end up as God. You are part of God so you will end up as God. The question is whether you will end up consciously part God's conscious,ie (using Christian terminology) one with God in heaven, or whether you will be absorbed into the allness of God, ie: broken up into the basic parts of yourself which are made up of God's energy. The first means that your conscious awareness will continue and you will be consciously one with God in enteral Bliss. The second means that you will lose your conscious awareness and simply become atoms of God with no awarensess. The bible describes this as the second death. Christianity has taken this and made it into enternal "hell" as the fire that destroys your consciosness is eternal. The wailing and gnashing of teeth as described in the book of revelations describes the soul relizing its mistake and its loss at the moment of its distruction. Hell is not eternal. Since everything is made out of God, God would not desire that any part of itself be condemned to an eternity in hell. The fires that cleanse out anything that is outside the will of God are eternal. This is where modern Christianity gets its concept of an eternal Hell.

Who is Jesus?
We are all beings made in the image of God. We have the qualitative power of God, ie we can create and We have free will. The earth is a place for young souls to come and learn to create according to the Will of God. If your creation is within the Will of God, ie harms nothing and glorifies the allness of God, then your creation will be eternal. If your creation falls outside the will of God, then it will eventually be consumed. The timeframe is often very long, so that you have time to learn from your mistakes and recreate. God has no desire to see anything destroyed, yet God will not allow itself to permenately create something that causes suffering. God is beyond suffering. Yet because we are here to learn and because we have free will, we can create suffering.
So who is Jesus? Jesus is a creation of God made in God's image,IE has the ability and desire to create and has free will as we all are. As a Being of God, Jesus chose to enter the realm of the earth in order to reveal the allness of God. To do this Jesus had to do like anyone else and send a part of itself into the material realm. This part of itself is called the soul. To materialize here the soul must put on a physical body. This body is subject to both the physical laws and to the higher laws of the spirit. Because of the mass of Beings on this planet who have chosen seperation from God, there is a consciousness of seperation.
Contrary to some beliefs, Jesus made many of the same mistakes we all did and lived many lifetimes before he had the full realization of his oneness with God. His final incarnation here on Earth was simply his highest. We all have this potential.
I will explain the Churches role in this when I can get more computer time. My computer took a bunk and I am working on a library computer. Haven't fully put on the mind of Christ and so am wallowing in the suffering of a funky computer. Haha.......

What a worthless question right now.
Close your eyes.
Look inside.
See the beauty.
See the truth about you.
Find yourself.
Find God.

L: I merely meant that you're looking at something (the Bible) as a literal interpretaion of historical events and that it is not.
weschrist: Got it. Which is why I don't consider people refering me to the Bible as a legitimate answer to my question.
For the record, the Bible does have key info. about Jesus' personal life. It's obvious you haven't read it. Probably not even the CliffsNotes. Ask any Christian whether you should read the Bible to learn about Christ, and they'll say yes. It doesn't mean you shouldn't read anything else about him if you're really interested. There's a ton of books about the guy from all angles. How ridiculous. From what you're trying to find and your laziness, you really need to seek out a channeler. There should be a couple around the Lake.
Your mockery is why I posted. And my threats to you are solely due to the way you posted to Werner. This isn't about me, jerk, as we've been around and around before. You just like reading your own snide remarks.
If you're a person lacking in faith, at least have some courtesy and respect for people who do believe. Or expect abuse over it because it's so obnoxious.

the nice thing about the internet is it's all on record. you can read the first 20 posts in this thread and draw your own conclusions about where the wheels came off. whatever. i'm sort of mystified about how everything turned into a pissing match.
i guess that's why i keep my spriritual thoughts to myself. i don't want some clueless numbnut to go pissin' all over 'em.
speaking of pissing....
