I see.

Now, would you say that PACs play a significant role in influencing medicine in the U.S., and why?

Well, I'm not Ouch, if that's what you mean. For as much good as denying that will do.

I guess it is a coincidence that we both served in the Air Force. i can't imagine that there would be any more than 10 or 12 million others in this country who could say that.

How do you personally feel about medical PAC lobbyists? Are there good and bad PACs?

Are there resources available for me to learn more about this issue? Not that I will look at them, because I can just ask you, but I'm curious.

I don't post here under any other name, for whatever that's worth.

That is correct, Lois. I'm not anyone else here, but since it's obviously so enjoyable for you to assume I am, knock yourself out. I can type "no" quite often without getting tired.

Can you expand more on the PAC issue?

Maybe I'll get the #100 post. Wahoo!

100 Already. Lois you really know how to troll em with your threads!

So you're saying the medical unions and hospitals pay lobbiests and politicians, and that in return they legislate in favor of those who contribute money? Did your cat let you in on that conspiracy because the politicians have repeatedly denied that money prevents them from serving the public interest. If they were lying about that, I'm sure somebody would have exposed them by now.

I think it's absolutely criminal that drug companies spend as much on advertising and marketing their prescription drugs as R&D (research and development). A doctor is required to assign these meds to them so why considerably jack up the costs to sick people with prime time ads and swag to docs? What do you think as an insider Lois. Get any swag? Ads, right or wrong?

Peace

Lois, I honestly don't know who he is. I might know him, but since I don't know who Turd is, I don't know if I know him. Somebody might even tell me they are Turd, but how would I know if they were telling you the truth. Turd might tell you he's Karl Baba but then I'd deny it and how would you know?

Some folks don't even believe you're you Lois. If Turd wants to remain anonymous, it's all an act of faith.

I even ran a search of particular 'turns of phrases' and didn't get anything conclusive.

some folks still think you're a troll Lois. You don't meet my definition (unless you are a brilliant evil genius) Some folks don't want their name on the net when they post when they are supposed to be working.

My boss is a jerk and I don't care if he finds out.

And, like Nature, I have already answered as many as I am going to.

But since you are so persistent, I will admit it: I am actually Dirt and Jennie's love child.

But enough about me. Let's talk about what you think of health care prices in this country. I think they are outrageous. Are any PACs addressing this issue? Is Canada on the right track? How about the uK?

1. Are you saying the medical unions and hospitals pay lobbiests and politicians, and that in return they legislate in favor of those who contribute money?

(my comment which is meant to kid you a bid) The politicians have repeatedly denied that money prevents them from serving the public interest. If they were lying about that, I'm sure somebody would have exposed them by now.

2. I think it's absolutely criminal that drug companies spend as much on advertising and marketing their prescription drugs as R&D (research and development).

2a What do you think as an insider Lois?
2a1 Get any swag? (swag means free stuff, trips, bribes)
2a2 Ads, right or wrong?

My comment - A doctor is required to assign these meds to them so why considerably jack up the costs to sick people with prime time ads and swag to docs?

Sorry Lois, I got carried away because I think drug prices are out of control

This seems like an good time to point out that the original purpose of this discussion was to demonstrate why people like Nature get tired of answering your questions.

I think my work here is done.

Aw Turd, I thought you'd take longer to pass through the digestive system. Lois was just gettin started so I think your point was lost. I can't believe you only had to ask some questions once, are you a smarty pants or somein? Don't give in to threats and ultimatums from Lois.

My point, among several, that I bullet pointed, Lois, was that part of the reason drugs cost so much is needless marketing.

Peace

Karl

I bet this thread goes on for another hundred posts. The question is about what. Idle hands are the devil's thread hijackers

KB: "My boss is a jerk and I don't care if he finds out."

Sorry to hear that, but I guess it's common in divided personalities - one dominates the other. Hopefully your boss (the "bad" KB) isn't posting under another avatar. That could get confusing, e.g. KB (the "bad" one) = LEB or something.

Have you considered a self-esteem program or such? Maybe LEB would have recommendations?

Hey Turd! You remember that snow cave up above Truckee? And you broke through that snow bridge and fell 10 feet into the creek and busted your trail shoes? Good thing you knew medicine that time.

I think my work here is done.

and some fine work it was. Most of us probably could figure out the direction you were taking - I for one underestimated the results you achieved. What's funny is the trolled probably still won't realize that was the point.

yes LEB, if you think so. BTW, which troll am I again?

Cat and mouse, huh? And turd did what to be fooled by your game. It's obviouse to EVERYONE reading this thread except you. Oh wait, your Dr. Kodos. My bad.

You answered very long-winded posts regarding the medical industry. You know that jellybean game where you guess how many jellybeans are in the pot. I wonder if anyone can guess how many words you wasted explaining medical stuffs that nobody here sincerely cared about. But I guess if wasting your time annoying us with long-winded posts is your game, then well, carry on - your doing an excellent job.

Hi Lois

You missed my main point that Marketing and Advertising is a needless expense for prescription drugs that adds to the cost as much as R & D. If the patients ask you "Is Vioxx right for me" you might go ahead and give it to em even if an objective study might indicate that some older generic might work just as well.

I think there's a bit of "venus" and "mars" and "whatever planet you're from" on this thread Lois. I think folks have a valid criticism of you that you ask questions but don't necessarily read the answers carefully enough, but I get the impression that you genuinely just enjoy the conversation, while others care more about the intellectual or practical aspects of communication which might just be a bonus for you. They're frustrated if you don't "get it" On your side, you don't need to get it, you're happy to just yap.

So just like any relationship, it's probably good to be clear about who you are dealing with and their wilingness to communicate with the same goals. The misunderstanding with Nature is a result of you wanting something from him that he didn't want to give. You don't always give what other's want either.

Still, we're all growing. You did a good job of being yourself on the thread but We did get a great deal of entertainment watching Turd play your stereotypical role

Peace and Love

Karl
