Sweet 3-2, 11 inning win for my Athletics v. the pinstriped insufferables in the Bronx tonight on an RBI single just beyond the grasp of their diving shortstop Didi Gregorius (who had made several wonderful plays earlier in the game) and locktight relief by Ryan Madson.
Gets the Good Guys back to .500
Let's go, Oakland!

Y'all realize a MLB all time record was set the other day?
It was the first time that 4 first place clubs played in the same city!
The Nationals were playing the Cubbies (and got swept in 4) and somebody
from back east was playing the White Sox.
GO CUBS!

I remain quietly optimistic that the longest playoff drought for any team will end this year.
Can you say "You're First Place Seattle Mariners"?
doesn't roll of the tongue w/o practice (and we've had none for 10 years).

To be honest I can say "you're First Place Seattle Mariners", but I can't write it, at least with a
straight face. ;-)
GIVE THE CUBBIES THE DAMN TROPHY NOW!. (Even though they lost a doubleheader
to the Padrinos!)

I can see it now- Mariners vs. Cubs in the World Series or has living in a state with legal pot clouded my judgment?

I'm stuck with being a Rockies fan, and the Dodgers are a hereditary baseball enemy due to my early childhood in St. Louis. It was the Brooklyn Dodgers and the N.Y. Giants then. Went to my first MLB game to see the St. Louis Browns, 'cause Dad wanted me to get a chance to see the great Ted Williams in action with the Red Sox. Over the years, my baseball-loving father took me to many Cardinal games, so also got to see Warren Spahn, Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Don Newcombe, and yes, the venerable Satchel Paige. Made me a fan at an early age. Being a baseball fan is a virulent disease from which there is no cure...
Dad even played minor league baseball in the Cardinal's system; 1931 at Danville, Illinois; the 3-I League.

Speaking of fools, who hired those clowns in the Dodgers' front office?
Their latest 'savior' didn't exactly sparkle yesterday which proved that AAA ain't the bigs.

Red Sox are for real. Pitching is suspect, but the offense and their young players are unreal. Been fun watching them this year. Betts hit 3 hrs today and made one of the smoothest diving catches I've seen, xander goes to 24 game hit streak, Bradley Jr. had a 29 game hit streak end last week, Shaw killing it, and Ortiz.
Baseball will be a little less without him in the game next year. Hands down the greatest all time clutch hitter and his 40th year has been one for the ages. Thanks for all the memories Big Papi.

Reilly, did Charlie make your Mom wear shorts?
EDIT: oops, sorry, I'm getting my whacky baseball executives mixed up. I'm thinking of Bill Veeck and the Whiet Sox. Apologies to your dear, sweet Mama.
