"I doubt I will ever be able to afford climbing there, so this is as close as I can get."

I wouldn't say that... The best deal I know of, for a non local, would be the Juneau Icefield area. Coastal Helicopters does one way flights in a long ranger for $345. It seats three.

So if you wanted to play Executive Alpinism next week it would run $568 each round trip to base camp and back from LAX... Anyone?

I'll look for some Ruth photos later. Too bad about the endless flight seeing there. It's a busy place if the weathers good... Easy to see why

one good thing about the noise pollution:

now whenever I hear a small plane engine or helicopter it immediately brings amazing memories into my mind

SW Ridge of 11,300 from the air. Although it looks like it was taken straight on, it's still foreshortened according to my memory!

There's nothing there.

It's not fit for mankind.

Only those who have excessive Karma are sent there to suffer, masqueraded as enjoyment .....

I doubt I will ever be able to afford climbing there, so this is as close as I can get.

I sold just about everything I owned, including my car, to get to Denali the first time.

I drove my Subaru station wagon from San Diego to get to Denali the first time!

Damn thing kicked my ass, but opened my eyes to what 'alpinism' was really about. You just don't get the same sense by being a Sierra Alpinist.

In the left foreground of your photo is the toe of Peak 10,370' - which is the first peak on Reality Ridge.

We climbed a new route up this peak more than 20 years ago...

Found a couple of photos of the lower part of the SW ridge of Peak 11,300 that I took from Reality Ridge, if anyone would like a different view of the ridge

Love that gorge. Used to fly through there with Don Sheldon, but never managed to spend time in it. I'm incredibly envious!
