FA of Repo Man, Half Dome
Eric George and I climbed this new variation on the right side of Half Dome in 1999. These pitches ate up beaks – I placed 18 of ‘em on the second pitch and Eric placed 17 on the third.
2nd pitch, Eric cleaning
Same as above

Brian-
That photo of the pitch you lead on Repo man should be named "Snake charmer".
Man what a vantage point, and consistent good use of runners.
That pitch flows in the photo!

Minerals that’s a very cool picture of the Kamikaze Cracks. When I first led that on a failed FA attempt (that was our high point), Bill Price leaned back cleaning the pitch and ripped about half a pitch of tied off blades out. The rock had a very flint-like edge to it that was harder than a whore’s heart. No matter how hard I tried to beat them into submission they wouldn’t really penetrate. Never really experienced rock like that before. When Bill went back to finish the route the blades sunk in where the prior scars were and were bomber.
Sorry no new photos this round...too lazy to break out the scanner n slides.
